2 times that I can think of recently. The first was letting Lauren die in Heavy Rain totally by accident. The 2nd was what Kratos uses Poseidon's daughter for... and you can't control it but I felt kinda shitty about that.

  • 1) Yes I have. I was helping a beginner in WoW and eh.. then I got tired of doing that and fled. He never said "thx" and left, kept asking me to help him.
    2) I had other things I wanted to do and you had to explain everything to him so thoroughly.
    3) I knew that no one else would help him and I just fled. He was like an orphan set adrift in cyberspace.
    4) I simply do not help beginners any more. I avoid them so it probably won't happen again.

To add something new to the table.
The Final Choices in Dragon Age: Awakening

AWAKENING SPOILERS

When you have to choose between saving Vigil's Keep and saving the City of Ameranthine. On my first playthrough I sat pondering the circumstances for a good 15 minutes before I made up my mind. I chose to save Vigil's Keep and burn the City to kill all the darkspawn inside. As the arrows flew into the city and you saw them kill darkspawn and survivor alike I felt a massive pang of guilt flare up. It was an awful decision to condemn the survivors to be burned alive inside the city, but I felt it had to be done if I were to save Vigil's Keep.

Also, killing the Architect was a difficult decision. I wanted to believe he only wanted the best, I wanted to belive that he wasn't the enemy, but I cannot allow him to create an intelligent darkspawn race with a will of its own. It would not only be a betrayal of the men and women of Thedas, but a direct slap in the face to the Dwarves of The Deep Roads who have fought and died to keep the surface safe for hundreds of years. The Grey Wardens have a hard enough time killing the darkspawn without them being able to have elaborate shows of intelligence.

Damn you Bioware, Damn you for making me feel guilt from a Video Game. *shakes fist*

Numerous times in numerous games. I've gotta say though, that the destuction of the companion cube in Portal, despite it being inanimate, really stood out. I was laughing at myself and feeling really bad at the same time, it was very odd.

i vote option 5: i've never felt guilt because no game has affected me as such.
i dont mind doing the "bad" choice in games if its in character and i dont feel remorseful for doing so.

I felt a bit guilty at the ending of Mass Effect one, with the line "They cut the transmission!"
However, I'd do it again. In fact, I'm going to do it again on the playthrough I'm doing now. It's the most logical thing to do.

I felt very guilty about the Purification in the Dark Brotherhood quest-line. So bad that I cooked up a story about informing them all, then giving them the same poison that you use in another quest (you know, the one which make you appear dead.) After the quest-line was over, I pretended that I brought them back from hiding and spawned them with the console. Happy ending!

A couple of times pirating in EVE made me feel guilty, like when someone didn't have the money to pay the ransom, you've gotta kill em otherwise word gets out that your soft and no one pays your ransom, made me feel pretty bad but its gotta be done. When they send you hate mail afterwards, but you can tell its just the "I don't know why you did this" style hate mail and not the "I'm gonna fuck you up" hate mail made it worse, killing noobs is never fun.

Bioshock 2. Harvested all the little sisters.

Then after seeing the aftermath of that decision, I felt really, REALLY bad.

Handing over the evidence in Tali's trial always makes me feel guilty. I don't even like Tali, but I felt sorry for her during that mission. She didn't deserve to go through all of that. But then I had to go against her wishes and make her incredibly depressed in the process. After the trail she doesn't even sound mad, just really sad. Her voice actor does a good job pulling that off. So while I still feel that handing over the evidence is the right thing, it still makes me feel terrible.
