Mostly no, if it's a gaming or pop culture based avatar that is ultimatley not confronting or generaly neutral then I have no problem with it. If someone has an avatar that descends from say Firefly then it merely says that they liked Firefly. I mean my avatar says quite clearly that I am a fan of Halo and of the elites but it isn't confronting (except for the obvious confrontation of gazing into the face of the holy Sangheili) and so it's more of an expression of what one likes and in a sense a definition of who we are.

Then again I remember joobnook47... the first (or second) incarnation of the resident troll had that avatar of Gordon Freeman killing Masterchief and I was not in the least bit surprised to find him as an endlessly annoying Halo Hating Troll. So yeah, he was a guy I hated flat out mostly because he openly insulted me and quite a few others based on our mutual like for Halo.

Sometimes to try and see if i'm right just for fun, never seriously though.
I'm sure people have judged me by mine, but, hey, it's the way the world works.

Sorta. I prefer not to say which ones just so I don't offend. I don't really think lowly of them, though. I just think they could have gone a more... "original" route.

I have no idea what people think of me based on my avatar, though.

I am always judging everyone by everything.
How could you not judge me by this?
..Harry Potter sexually violating Zeus?
Me suplexing god! Why is that so hard to get!? *Breaks down sobbing*
..I still think it's Harry Potter doing inappropriate things to Zeus o_O

That's what I thought too...
Yeah, i'm pretty sure thats the consensus.
I thought Harry potter was wrestling Zeus and the picture caught him in the middle of a finishing move. When I saw the larger image, I heard "FINISH HIM!" in my head.

I usually don't because unless its something particularly hilarious, I couldn't care less. It does occasionally point out the fans of certain shows, but its rare that they are a fan so much as just someone who thinks the character is cool. I do however judge people who have political pictures because it tells me they are undesirables that I would want dead.

It says "I don't deserve Vera".

In other words, its a representation of your own lack of awesome.

When I see a person with a Yahtzee imp or Fallout 3 avatar, I automatically think that they are new.
The person above me must like the violin.

I do all the time, even you. For you, your avatar says you are way to fucking optimistic.

Not really, though they can usually tell a person's interests or personality which I tend to "predict." Though, I've never really looked to see if I was wrong or right so I dunno. xD It doesn't matter to me that much.

I spent the last ten minutes trying to think up a comeback that would work in a reference to "dressing up" Vera, to prove I understood the reference... so I guess your judgement was right on.

Now, why do you have a fiddling... power puff girl?

I was about to answer no but then I remembered so guy on here with an anti obama icon thing on here and I pretty much instantly judged him to be a prick and after reading some of his posts I was proven right
why did you instantly think he was a prick?
well soon as I saw his av my first guess was that he was going to be some kinda right wing loony and after reading some of his posts I was proven right
if you support obama, that makes you a left wing loony.
I dont support anyone, Obama seems to want to do good and all but I personaly dont see how a social conservative can be anything but a horrible person, so if you think you can answer that Id love to hear it

I'd say that I do judge people a bit from their avatars.
But really, it's only after reading a few of their posts that you get any kind of insight as to what they're like.
So I try to reserve complete judgment until I've seen them at least five times.
Unless the first post I see is a complete piece of crap/trollish spew.
Then they get a place on the list.

how does being anti obama make someone a prick? i happen to strongly disagree with obama's politics, so does that make me a prick?
perhaps but you dont make your view obvious from your av, and that is what this thread is about

Because, when people are being all dower and angsty i tend to be cynical and derisive. And the pinky violin is the ultimate display of cynicism towards angst.
