PubClub gets a few dozen signups a week currently, which is respectable and helps us offset some minor costs (office supplies, paying some contract content producers), etc. To get anywhere to the point of "covering" our costs, it would need to be something like several hundred signups a day. While we love our PubClub supporters, and the money definitely has helped us pay some people who were waiting for money (and it is trending upwards, woo!), it is nowhere near to replacing the 5 to 6 figure checks that a one or two month ad campaign can bring in.Hammeroj said:I've never seen a site this blatant about advertising. Seriously, for your premise to work, the Publisher's Club should be a complete disaster, with up to a hundred members.
ever thought of adding a donate option? Buy PubClub memberships for friends! We have talked about a donate button before, but I'm not sure as to the exact reason why we don't have it. I think you can just buy multiple years on your own account for a lifetime of no ads or worrying about renewals.Patrick Young said:ever thought of adding a donate option? I understand that the site has to advertise, but please bring this up.Kross said:The Gaikai game streaming stuff actually pays us fairly decently for time spent playing any of the game demos, or so I've been told. We're also the first site of any size that they are trying it on, and they're tweaking it to various degrees still. I'm sorry it chugs your computer though, I'll bring it up and see if there's an opt out option somewhere tomorrow.
