I always feel like a little girl when I watch Howl's moving castle even though I have a goatee.

i've only seen Laputa and Spirited Away so i can't really vote though both films i really enjoyed. isn't Grave of the Fireflies one if his, as well? that is the BEST and will take a lot for one if the others to beat it

Mononoke was just awesome and beautiful. I can't describe it in any other way.
Sadly, I have not seen Totoro. :(
You poor unfortunate person. Here's a picture to cheer you up.

Howl's Castle, hands-down. Not only does it depict an awesome steampunky world (always a plus), it shows what I always thought magic should be: a lot deeper and more complicated then wiggling sticks and mumbling a bit of latin. Plus, Calcifer is just so fucking convenient.
Plus he's voiced by Billy Crystal, who incidentaly is also in The Princess Bride!

Castle of Cagliostro beats out anything Ghibli has produced in the last 20 years, that much is fact.

Mononoke, I feel while the animation has remained beautiful, his stuff isn't as good as it used to be way as of late.
Are you serious about Castle of Cagliostro? While I found it to be the most fun of Miyazaki's films, it's not my favourite.

Mononoke's setting and morally ambiguous characters really appeal to me, so it probably helps it just come above Laputa, Nausicaa and Spirited Away for me. I agree that his stuff isn't as good as it used to be (although I can't judge Ponyo yet, it doesn't seem to be generating the same buzz Spirited Away did)
Ponyo is a very small movie. I think Miyazaki intentionally stayed away from heavy subjects to just to make a simple yet beautifull bedtime story.

Castle of Cagliostro is probably my least favourite of his movies.

For me it'd have to be Spirited Away. The only other film of his that I've seen is Howl's Moving Castle, and while it is a good movie, I still perfer Spirited Away (I'm actually listening to it's soundtrack as I'm typing this.).

The reason I enjoyed Spirited away more, would be partially of it's incredible originality. It's not based of anything, just pure imagination, and I have great respect for that. But it's also just all around charming. You get a little happy from watching it, despite it having a few dark tones.

Spirited away was just so amazing. It was the first one I ever saw and it got me completely entranced by the kind of artistic genius at work with this guy.
I've loved the others a lot, but Spirited Away is the first one I truly fell head over heels for.

Spirited Away was such a good film. The story was intriguing, the character designs are nothing I've ever seen, and there's a certain charm in the movie that makes it so attractive.
I only watched the Cantonese version of it because I'm from Hong Kong, I thought Cantonese dubs would be superior to English dubs, and I thought English dubs to Japanese made cartoons were incredibly inferior.

If I remember rightly, I've seen Spirited Away.

That's the only one that rings a bell anyway.

I'd say Spirited Away only because I love Alice in Wonderland. I really hated Princess Mononoke

You know what? I have never watched any of these films from start to finish. And I call myself a movie fan...

Of the bunch I want to watch Totoro the most. But I *must* see Mononoke before I die.

A coin flip between nausicaa and Princess mononoke but i will give my favourite to nausicaa for two reasons 1) it has patrick steward as a voice actor in the english dub 2) it has one of the most epic opening songs ever.

Don't belive me? listern

I've only watched Princess Mononoke, so I guess that would be my favourite.

I'm going to watch Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle eventually. I heard that they are really good.
