You poor unfortunate person. Here's a picture to cheer you up.War Penguin said:Mononoke was just awesome and beautiful. I can't describe it in any other way.
Sadly, I have not seen Totoro.![]()
Plus he's voiced by Billy Crystal, who incidentaly is also in The Princess Bride!ObadiahBlack said:Howl's Castle, hands-down. Not only does it depict an awesome steampunky world (always a plus), it shows what I always thought magic should be: a lot deeper and more complicated then wiggling sticks and mumbling a bit of latin. Plus, Calcifer is just so fucking convenient.
Ponyo is a very small movie. I think Miyazaki intentionally stayed away from heavy subjects to just to make a simple yet beautifull bedtime story.pigeon_of_doom said:Are you serious about Castle of Cagliostro? While I found it to be the most fun of Miyazaki's films, it's not my favourite.ChromeAlchemist said:Castle of Cagliostro beats out anything Ghibli has produced in the last 20 years, that much is fact.
Mononoke, I feel while the animation has remained beautiful, his stuff isn't as good as it used to be way as of late.
Mononoke's setting and morally ambiguous characters really appeal to me, so it probably helps it just come above Laputa, Nausicaa and Spirited Away for me. I agree that his stuff isn't as good as it used to be (although I can't judge Ponyo yet, it doesn't seem to be generating the same buzz Spirited Away did)
