I find it unusual how a few people I know have a tendancy to round up their height and add one. For example I am 6ft 2 and a bit, I know this for a fact (the tape measure does not lie), yet a few of people I know claim to be this height too and instead claim that I must be 6ft 3 or 4 to justify me being taller and for them being shorter.

So my question is: 'Is height really that much of a big deal that we tend to overestimate it or even exagerate it?

Yeah, it is. Tall people are more successful at everything, and there are stats to back it up.

Then again, I'm 6'2", so I'm biased.

Yes. It's just another case of 'Mine is bigger than yours!'

You can't be smaller than anyone else, now can you?

Yes, but I probably only think that because I'm short.
I don't think it matters, and I'm pretty short. I guess I've sprouted a bit, but it never bothered me before either.

lol nup. I'm 5'11" which is just great. If I was taller I wouldn't fit into any awesome cars!

It matters to men because of the impossition of preference from women.

I'm 5 11.5. I'd love that extra half inch, but i dont have it. It is, however, lying to yourself to say you are taller.

Yes... I'm short, and notice all the time...
I applied for a sign waving job at a smoothie shop the other day, but didn't get hired because they couldn't see me behind the sign... which is fair enough, the sign was easily twice my size, would have been a waste of paid personnel. But still, shortness suuuuucks

I've never really found the need to over exaggerate my height.
Same.

It does kinda annoy me when I see guys taller than me though.

It's just... wrong
I don't like the shoe being on the other foot damnit!

I'm not particularly tall, but I've never really cared much
hate it when people make a big deal out of it though, shows which cultures are the most shallow

Very. But then again I play basketball so it probably means more to me than the "average joe".

In some cases yes. If it is something like a rollarcoaster, then for their safety, yeah. if you mean personally, then no. I am 6'1 however, so that could be why.

I don't see the point of exaggerating, or even rounding up if you're not all that close. I'm really about 5'10" 1/4, but I say I'm 5'10". Saying I'm 5'11" wouldn't make sense, because I'm not. I'm not really all that close.

I'm 6'2".
*Shrugs shoulders*
I know plenty of people who think that height is that big of a deal. I don't think that there's really a reason for it to be.

I don't even know how tall I am anymore. That probably tells you how much importance I put into height. I'd say "about average" is good enough. :)
