run in behind a crowd so that I would not get hit and then run away, unless the shooter is blocking the exit in which case I would lie down in someone else's pool of blood and play dead (I have decided never to get shot in my lifetime).
Fine, maybe you're the superhero with brass balls all shop-robbers fear. I guess it's only me who's not certain what I'd do.hoopyfrood said:Why are you talking about "we," when you are clearly only talking about yourself? Don't try to make decisions on my behalf.
You have bear hands?! wow how'd you attain those?Greyfox105 said:Take the bullet and strangle the life out of him.
with Bear Hands!
And it's also possible to get shot trying to disarm an armed attacker. Facts are facts.hoopyfrood said:Sorry, but facts are facts: it is possible to disarm an armed attacker. No amount of arguing is going to change that.Seanchaidh said:for most of the people saying they'd do something violent or brave, you might be able to press Q to not die with a game controller, but someone with a gun pointed in your direction is NOT a situation you can just deal with simply. All he has to do is move his hand and you can die.
Socially acceptable? I couldn't care less about social acceptance, I care about not escalating a problem by thinking with my ego rather than logic. Oh and living, I like life.hoopyfrood said:Since disarming is presented as an option, one should naturally assume that you are right in front of the gunman.Arcticflame said:A guy pulls a gun, and you seriously think you can run at him and try to disarm him... really?.
Well tough shit for the cop if he doesn't announce that he is a police officer. And really, if someone pulls a gun on you, is your first assumption going to be that he's a police officer? No way, I doubt you could get there in time, and there is a strong chance you might escalate the problem, the guy could be a plain clothed cop aiming at something behind you. The guy might suspect you to be doing something dodgy, who know? He aims at you and you charge him, that guy might shoot you just because of that, and to add insult to injury he could claim self-defence.
But standing there and getting shot, or running away and getting shot, that's not ridiculous at all. Of course, neither of these options involve any violence or aggression on your part, so they are socially acceptable.Unless you are some form of special forces, or superhero, charging him is ridiculous.
