Christmas tree. I'm atheist and I still call it a Christmas tree.
I'm Pagan, and Christmas is originally a Pagan holiday so I call it a Christmas tree...

yeah. but a chrismas TREE has little to do with christ at all.(who even thought of santa?)
The Santa we have now was basically the fiction of the Coca Cola industry. Santa Claus actually means Saint Nicholas, a person famous in the Christian religion of giving generous amounts of money to the poor.

Add in hundreds of years of various folklore, commercialisation, and Coca Cola's red and white suit, and you have modern day Santa.

OT: It's Christmas Tree. Holiday Tree makes no sense, since the tree was invented for the Christmas season. I don't call a Catholic Priest a "Holy-type person" just because their name contains a religious reference. It is what it is, changing that is just stupid and offensive.
Common misconception, Coca Cola didn't create Santa in fact the look of Santa Claus which involves a jolly bearded fat man came from drawings by John Nast and the name is of Sinterklaas which was then turned into Santa Cluas through Americanisation. The Red and White suit was used before Coca Cola made the advert that included Santa. Coca Cola also weren't the first to use Santa as a mascot I think White Rock was the first.

People say Happy Holidays because it's politically correct. I say Merry Christmas because I'm Catholic and because it pisses the politically correct crowd off.

Haha 1 person pressed 'Holiday Tree' just to ruin the perfect 100.

As others have said, political correctness has gone far enough.

If you are going to change the names of Christian holidays then you have to do it for all religious holidays... I dont care either way, its only fair.

You put it up at Christmas,so it's a Christmas tree

It gets silly when people change the names to try and please the people who don't actually need pleasing.
One year the local council tried to change the name of stuff:
Christmas lights -> Winter/holiday lights
Christmas tree -> Holiday tree

It's almost as bad as when they tried to stop people from waving the English flag during the World Cup because non-English people found it threatening

Unbelievable that a tradition has to change because of Christmas becoming apparently offensive. What is it, a swear word now?

Ok if your Jewish or Muslim or what have you, and you buy a Pine Tree, a symbol of the Christian holiday known as Christmas, then you can call it a holiday tree. but when was the last time a Jewish man bought a pine tree for Hanukkah? fucking never that when! so if you dare call a Christmas tree a holiday tree even though your christian and your celebrating Christmas then your a fucking dumb politically INCORRECT bastard. owned *****.

I'm not religious, and have a semblance of political correctness, but...

IT IS CHRISTMAS. THE TREE IS USED TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS. ERGO, IT IS A FUCKING CHRISTMAS TREE.

I have no problem with people saying Happy Holidays, after all, there is more than one holiday going on at the time; I often say it myself.

In that same vein, it isn't called a 'holiday' menorah, now is it?

Neither. I call it the tree I have in my living room with lights on it.
'The Tree I have in my Living Room with Lights on it' is a little cumbersome to use in everyday conversation, no?

Christmas.
People say Happy Holiday's instead of Merry Christmas nowadays so they don't offend anyone. If you are seriously offended by someone saying to have a great day then you should be put on death row.
All forms of Political Correctness can suck a mule and die. It is just another way to make everyone separate all because some whiny ass made a few too many complaints.

Hmm, I always thought that the pre-Cola Santa had a red and white hooded cloak, and the idea of the current outfit came from Coca Cola. I realise that they didn't create his image entirely, but it was sort of solidified into that image by the use of such a big brand.

Ah well, you live and learn. :D

I have never heard of any other religion using pine trees during the holidays, so it's clearly a Christmas tree.

I wouldn't feel too bad about it, I only found this information out a few hours go when I was going to say pretty much the same as you did but I decided to do my research first before some one could correct me and make me look like a shit.
