the problem is then some of the screens and the theatres get used up showing drivel rather than halfway decent films and because when the sheep go to see these films they re in such great numbers the theatre owners put the same film on heaps of screens taking up even more of the words limited resources and then i cant get a carpack at the shopping centre when i want to buy PS3 games

michael bay is the source of all woe (no capital because he doesnt deserve my respect because his films prevent me from getting my fix)

Well, given the insane amount of money the first two made, a third one is suprising. Still, they were terrible movies. The first one would be ok if it wasn't for the very bizzarre out of place humor. The 2nd has no redeeming qualities at all. He put testicles on devastator for crying out loud.

Y'know what?

When I see someone bad-mouthing the transformers movies I immediatly lose respect for them.(Unless of course they actually have a legitimate thought out reason to do so).
Complaining that the films are immature and pure childish explosion and action is stupid.
THEY ARE BASED ON TOYS THAT ARE FOR CHILDREN.
Obviously the films arn't directed at children with all the cursing and half naked women. But They are aimed at the children inside us who used to play with the toys...
I watch the first one last night and it is awesome. Giant robots beating the crap out of each other is entertaining... I don't care what anyone says. If you think the story is stupid and Micheal Bay isn't doin the franchise justice, then take this example: In the 1st movie, Megatron dies, but he comes back again in the second movie fighting fit. If you think thats stupid, then you must not realise that that happened in almost every episode of the old cartoon series.

The man keeps making bad movies and people keep on giving him money to make these bad movies. But Transformers isn't a film franchise that would be easy to fuck up, and yet Bay did it twice. The second movie in particular was shocking idictment on his lack of skills.
Bad movies? What? Are they too immature for you? Don't think your all high and mighty and above those films. You're just not the target audience. But you could be, and you could really enjoy those films, if you just switch off the bit of your brain that wants an interesting story, characters and twists galore, and just watch the film for what it is. Robots beating the crap out of each other.

You say Micheal Bays a bad director with a lack of skills, but I disagree... He made a film that was meant to be immature and action-packed with a simple story that anyone could follow.
Sure, maybe anyone could do that, but he did it well.

No. They are just too crap for me.

That bit of my brain also known as my brain.

He made a film that was supposed to be entertaining but was less entertaining than plucking my own nostril hairs. I don't just dislike Bay for Transformers. Look at Pearl Harbor and The Island for fuck sake.

Oh god no. My childhood icons... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Your childhood is still intact? Wow. Mine suffered greatly by the hands of another director whom we should probably stop bashing. After he was done & Michael Bay came along, my childhood just rolled over and moaned softly.

It was too weak to offer up any resistance.

OT: These movies aren't horrific. Not the worst I've ever seen. But nowhere near the best.

I only saw the first one, and since I have no particular affinity for (or knowledge of) Transformers, I didn't see it as some sort of travesty against my childhood. It just wasn't very good. Not terrible, not somehow traveling backwards in time and altering my memories of something else I liked, but just bland and dull. I haven't seen the second and doubt I'll see the third, but if he wants to make a third, more power to him. To each his own, really.

Well maybe you just don't like action movies, because thats what Micheal Bay is good at...
I never saw the Island but I doubt its the kind of film Micheal Bay would be good at, and as for Pearl Harbour, it was a good action film. But the romance bit was stupid and Ben Affleck... well... yeah [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SoYeah]

Don't go into a Micheal Bay film expection Metal Gear Solid-style storytelling brilliance.

This is a hate thread. Reported.

Edit: Also, I've seen Meet the Spartans. Revenge of the Fallen pales in comparison.

They aren't that bad, they could be much worse than they are, they are not so different from every other cliché Hollywood movie beyond having giant robots.

I imagine I will end up seeing it "just in case it's better than the last one".
Same as. Except I still liked the last two as popcorn films. I found them entertaining. Hopefully though Transformers 3 is better then 2 (no high parents please...that sucked a lot. Oh and no racial stereotypes. Oh and no monstrously huge robots that are easily taken out).

I find the Transformers films hilarious. As in, I'm laughing at the film, not with it. Still, it's mindless entertainment and I don't mind being mindless once in a while.

One question though; how the hell can they keep the story going? It SHOULD have died at the end of the first one.

The real problem with the Transformers movie is that they killed TF: Animated so the toylines didn't collide.

Animated was great, good stories, good revival of classic characters, good new characters, non-annoying squishies, fantastic show accurate toy designs. The works.

And it had to go away to sell crap ROTF toys. Boo!

As for Bayformers, at least it's not Kiss Players *shudder*.

I'm sure some people out there like it. I mean that's why it has been made into a trilogy. I won't be going to see it myself. Not my thing.
Notice than in most trilogies, the third movie is always less than average. Take a look at the Matrix series, the third movie hurt my eyes.

I fear worse for Transformers 3.
