My penis is going to transform now, right across Micheal Bays face. I could not enjoy Transformers 1&2 while high as a kite. But I did enjoy the 90's movie Freaked while high, and that movie was bad, horribly bad, but more enjoyable while stoned then Transformers 1&2. Just IMDB the movie Freaked, I don't even want to IMDB it for you guys, that's how bad it was, but yet it was better then Transformers 1&2.

As much as I liked the first movie, I never saw the second one (and don't have any plans to), and I'm kinda on the fence about the forth one.

Though my biggest beef with the second movie is how apparently it prevented Cartoon Network from making the fourth season of Transformers Animated. See, there were originally going to be four seasons, but the third season's ending just left us with some unaswered questions.

That sums up my feelings quite well.
I enjoyede that haha.

OT: I have to agree with what some people here are saying. Bay films are shallow with explosions replacing intersting stories, but they're not that bad. I never was particularly fond of them but they never made my eyes bleed either.

Wait, people have to question why Michael Bay gets so much critical flak?

Those aren't ideas, those are special effects. [http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/155700]

South Park has never been so very correct.

Great. What will the plot of the movie be? Sam applying for a mortgage with Bumblebee as the co-signer? Aye. If this keeps up, then the Transformers will be forever ruined, if Revenge of the Fallen didn't already accomplish that.

I must have a superior taste in film because I'm hating on a director whom merely makes simple, entertaining films for people to just enjoy.
that said, I do hope the script is better than transformers 2, but I will still watch it, enjoy Mr. Bay's fine work for two and a bit hours, and then a while later buy the movie on DVD or blu-ray.
Fuck all you elitist haters, the man does GREAT WORK.

Well maybe you just don't like action movies, because thats what Micheal Bay is good at...
I never saw the Island but I doubt its the kind of film Micheal Bay would be good at, and as for Pearl Harbour, it was a good action film. But the romance bit was stupid and Ben Affleck... well... yeah [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SoYeah]

Don't go into a Micheal Bay film expection Metal Gear Solid-style storytelling brilliance.
You know what movies had good action AND good story?

Matrix.
V for Vendetta.
All Lord of the Rings movies (especially the 2nd one).
Spider-Man (first one).
The Dark Knight.
Any Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan non-Americanized movie made. Drunken Master, Enter the Dragon, The Legend of the Drunken Master.
Sylvester Stalone movies... okay, plot might be crap in 1/2 of them, and mediocre in the rest, but it's still better than M. Bay's movies.

Point is - you seem to think that "Good action = WOARRRHHGGG EXPLUSHINZZ!! KABLAAAAAM!!! BOOM BOOM KAWHOOPOAAAASH!!". Sorry if it sounds condescending, but grow up. And no, I have nothing against mindlessness - I like games and movies with lots of action, destruction and so on... but I don't think they are good, most of the time I play them JUST for the explosions. Red Faction Guerilla, Prototype just to name two.

I feel like this is an unnecessary thread sense their have been a huge number of videos and threads hating on this movie franchise. (not that i mind because I hate hate hate hate hate it) but at this point I feel like its a waste of time to even put out the huge amount of reasons why I hate it. though I will say that I am extra biased sense I watched transformers as a child, but as a film student I can't shut off my brain and enjoy a movie with such bad plot holes, acting, and dialogue. also i hated all the jokes. but yeah I will definitely not be seeing this or any other bay film (was not a big fan of him before transformers anyway). although at least I can be happy knowing this movie won the razzie for worst of the year :)

I dont care what anyone says if they ever decide to make a Metal Slug movie I personally want Michael Bay to direct it.

OT: This sucks. But i'll still pay money to go see Trans 2, cause i... *puts up flame shield* actually like Michael Bay's movies. Bad Boys 2 had the best car chase in movie history.

Action Genre: A genre defined by a focus on violence over characters, drama, and plot.

Michel Bay: A director who forgoes plot, drama, and characters completely, substituting Special effects and explosions instead.

Okay, so we could have talked about this like actual adults, but you had to go and say "OMG LOLOLOL MICHAEL BAY IS SO BAD AGREE WITH ME!? LOOKEY LOOKEY HOW BAD HE IS"

If you had JUST posted the news, I would have said "Oh, that's not good, the film will be awful", but you just irritated me with that arrogance of yours

Also, the news snippet contained a lot of stuff about charity work. I know that's not related (nor will it affect) to his directing capabilities, but it detracts somewhat from the "He's a bad director" spin

I mean...they're really not awful movies, in my opinion. I actually enjoyed both.

A movie doesn't have to be enlightening or plot-heavy to be good. Sometimes a simple 'splosion fest will do just fine.

Maybe I should re-clarify... Micheal Bay is a good action director, But by no means great. His movies don't have detailed plots and interesting characters. But that appeals to some people. Not everyone... And clearly not everyone here. But I think people should stop bashing his Transformers movies... because like I said, they are really just about the action and I think people should watch them for that and not latch on to what others have said.
Having said that, I would much rather watch a LOTR film than transformers.
