Waaaa, waaaa, waaaa... all I ever hear. The 'Screw Bayformers' bandwagon is getting old.

You know what? Do what I did, go see the movies without any great expectations at all and simply enjoy 2 mindless hours of robots duking it out and shit blowing up. Expecting anything more from this franchise on the silver screen is (in my humble opinion) naive at best, moronic at worst. Yeah, I'm a fan, too and I know there are so many ways these movies could have been better, but jumping up and down, crying and screaming, "You raped my childhood!" isn't going to do anyone much good, least of all yourself.

I think a lot of people really need to het ahold of themselves. These movies are never going to be classis, but they are very well done in terms of CGI and pretty well written. Especially when compared to all of the other movies that are out there. And would someone mind telling me why these movies wouldn't have explosions? Did anyone ever watch the cartoons and not see excessive explosions? If anything, I applaude Mr. Bay for not making the lame characters from the original cartoons, because hell, if I did have to look at a VW Beetle change into a robot, or a robot transform into a huge pistol I would have laughed myself out of the theater. I really don't know what everyone was expecting but these movies are pretty good, especially since the actors have to completely pretend these gigantic robotrs are there in the frame with them. But hey, I guess that's what I get for not trying to see the negativity in everything or being a mindless sheep and following whatever people seem to say about Michael Bay.

See, this is the problem. Bay has begun to learn that he can make exploding dredge and people will still pay to see it. Why should he bother with making coherent films now? He could make a film that was nothing but exploding advertisements (the other problem I have with his films) and occasional shots of whatever teen lust idol is popular, and he'd still, at the very least, break even. If male teenagers didn't have disposable income, he'd be out of a job and the world would be a slightly better place.

And not to be a dick, but I firmly believe that anyone who defends either of the Transformer films is lying to themselves. They were both loud, obnoxious, puerile, incoherent messes.

Meh indifference. Honestly Bay making another film is hardly going to lead to the ruination of my life, as it has to some others apparently. I'm going to go see it, if only for continuity's sake. Oh, and because its about GIANT F*CKING ROBOTS!!!1!

You know what movies had good action AND good story?

Matrix.
V for Vendetta.
All Lord of the Rings movies (especially the 2nd one).
Spider-Man (first one).
The Dark Knight.
Any Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan non-Americanized movie made. Drunken Master, Enter the Dragon, The Legend of the Drunken Master.
Sylvester Stalone movies... okay, plot might be crap in 1/2 of them, and mediocre in the rest, but it's still better than M. Bay's movies.

Point is - you seem to think that "Good action = WOARRRHHGGG EXPLUSHINZZ!! KABLAAAAAM!!! BOOM BOOM KAWHOOPOAAAASH!!". Sorry if it sounds condescending, but grow up. And no, I have nothing against mindlessness - I like games and movies with lots of action, destruction and so on... but I don't think they are good, most of the time I play them JUST for the explosions. Red Faction Guerilla, Prototype just to name two.
I think you missed a few of the all-time classics:
Terminator 2
Jaws
Indiana Jones movies (the only 3 that matter)
the original Star Wars Trilogy (yes they were)
Anything with John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, pre-1998
The list goes on, I'm sure. lol

Also, consider this: we grew up with movies like this and expect at least that level of quality. But the next generation hasn't. They are seeing this for the first time, with CG replacing good storytelling, and they think that's normal. They won't watch the old school stuff because they don't understand complex stories and the old movies aren't as flashy as the new stuff (although T2 still holds the records and sets the standard).
Actually, I am from this generation. 92'. And it bottles my mind how people are stupid.

Then again, I'd much rather watch a Clint Eastwood movie (I love the dude) or, yeah, the first Star Wars trilogy.

I'm am reallly getting tired of polls and discussions like this. I personally enjoyed the transformers movies for the most part. There "were" alot of cheezy scenes in the movie (basically any scene that had Shiloh labuff or whatever his name is in it) but in general they were good. the action was good and the ending for the second movie was kind of bad, but over all the movies were what i expected, filled with action and a half-way decent story. If you don't like it don't see it, but knowing some of you twits, your going to go see the movie anyway so you can have something to ***** and ramble about. I went to see the movie to see robots getting killed(seriously they never died in the cartoons! Ever!!....exceprt optimus but they always brought him back to life) and explosions. thats what i got.

*(edit. i hate how they replaced Hotshot as optimus' side kick and replaced him with bumble bee)

Agreed. Didn't mean that they weren't entertaining in a popcorn flick way. Though seeing as I saw, and now own, both movies at no cost, I might be biased.

First one was entertaining in a mindless way. Second one...way too much filler, and seriously, I think the Twins were more obnoxious than Jar Jar Binks, and that's saying something. When there was action, it kicked ass. But the second one didn't have enough action.

You didn't watch any of the shows too much, did you? Here is a list of Transformers that have died in a show (spoilered)
Starscream, 1986 movie
Megatron, 1986 movie
Optimus Prime, 1986 movie (I'm listing it because he actually stayed dead the entire movie)
Blurr, 2007 animated series (though they said he was still alive, I count it because it was obviously meant to get him out of the series)
Prowl, 2007 animated series
Ultra Magnus, Transformers: The Headmasters (Japan only)
Starscream, 2007 animated series

1. We knew this was coming. How could one not?
2. Say what one will, Baysplosions just keep getting bigger and 'splosionier. Bring 'em on!
3. That said, I'll be there opening day just as I was for Transformers 1 & 2. They're not the greatest movies ever made, but they're a fun robot-romp that I won't miss out on.

I do hope they don't make it 3D, following the current trend to make every movie 3D (really, a 3D Kenny Chesney concert?! WHY?!) Just give me more and bigger, no 3D bullshit necessary.

See, action films these days suffer from what I like to call "the Greengrass effect", whereby filmmakers think that if they put people really close up to the action and shake the camera all over the place, it will give you the feeling of being there, as opposed to just giving you a headache. Actually watching the robots transform was pretty neat, but I'll be damned if I could comprehend any of what was happening when they were fighting.

Had the action been competent, I could have maybe forgiven the juvenile humour, incoherent plot and Megan Fox.

Okay, let's be real, Bay can't possibly mess up something as pure as Transformers a THRID time... can he? *gulp*

The old show is pretty much a twenty minuet comercial and the movies are "THE AMAZING SAM AND the autobot-things..." but my question is, how in the HELL do they mess up something as simple as Transformers? I mean, Giant Space robots that transform into cars, trucks, planes, and anything they so desire. HOW DO YOU MESS THAT UP?

Wasn't it said, there will be 2 more, back when the first was released?
Bay, isn't that bad, but maybe they should give someone else a shot.

You don't seem to understand.

For the money that was blown on Transformers 2 you could have made 6.6 District 9s.

Let me ask this - have Stanley Kubrick, George Miller, Hayao Miyazaki, or David Lynch ever been given $200 million to throw at a film? Just what kind of film could those guys make with that kind of money? What kind of film could Michael Bay make with that kind of money? Well we know now don't we, Transformers 2. In reality I think we always knew. That is the point. Take a chance on something new and edgy? Try something outlandish and creative? Try to make a film that is unique and will be remembered? Naah. Too much of a gamble. Michael Bay is a safe pair of hands - give him a thousand dollars he will buy a stick of dynamite. Give him a million and he will simply buy more dynamite.

The response of Hollywood? To give him the reigns of Transformers 3.

In the modern investment-driven world there is a real aversion towards trying anything new and different. Michael Bay epitomizes that marvelously.

I liked the first one.

How about...instead of being called Transformers 3, Bay can attempt to put a story in it this time whilst pretending 2 never happened!!!

I mean, the CGI artists must be used to it by now anyway (overworked even, let some writers help out)

Now, now, it can't be that bad... okay... it can, but that's not the point. Don't blame God, blame Bay. Seal Michel Bay and Uwe Boll in a barrel and sink them away in the Atlancit so that they can never make a bad movie again.
