I'm full Paragon, baby!

Seriously though, I tend to play way too nice unless I have a specific goal in mind that requires me to be an asshole to someone. Even then I usually try to be as nice as possible, stealthing over stabbing and all that.

At least on my first playthrough.

My second tends to be a little less perfect, investigating what happens if I punch so and so instead of giving her a backrub. I start to see if moral choices actually make much difference.

And then I always go and create an uber-dick, designed to be as offensive as possible and used purely for messing around in game. Very occasionally, and I mean VERY, will I take one of my 'evil' characters seriously, and even then they tend not to open fire on sight. For example, my Fallout 3 girly, Levi is a smooth-talking assassin who'll try and charm her way into or out of things but won't hesitate to repaint the place with your brains should you cross her.

Yeah, I'm pretty boring.

In, let's say Fallout 3 I was this mass murdering, yet polite (right before I killed people) bastard who killed people for teh lulz and all that.
But in Fallout New Vegas I ctually got attached to a lot of the characters and didn't have the heart to kill them at all. In New Vegas, I try to help out as best I can.

I generally consider (by the game) pretty nice because for most of the major stuff I don't kill everyone, but I'm a manic-obsessive looter. I don't care if the person's still in the house, I want you expensive stuff. For the most part though I usually act pretty Neutral. I may help you out sure, but I may just go for the other side because they pay more or are cooler.

Consider me True Neutral with tendencies towards Neutral Good.

Well soooooorry for not picking "Human Commoner" origin story. I did turn my "Mr. Generic Pants" into a Berserker/Reaver with questionable morals.

I honestly prefer to comit mass genocide in almost all the RPG's i play. In Oblivion i wiped out Burma 1. cause I felt like it and 2. for some sick but satifying reason it felt good to cause so much death. Stalker SOC I killed any one and any thing that "looked" at me funny or they had a Dragonov or a special gun *chough* silenced colt magnum *chough*.

All I do is play nice. And mage or rogue, depending on mana regeneration rate.

I'm nice, but greedy. NO MONEY FOR THE POOR!

You know what? I DID play as Human Noble Warrior in my first run through of Dragon Age. So lemme strap on my generic pants with my matching generic t-shirt I won at the Super-Duper Generic RPG player convention. haha.

For real, your post did make me laugh hysterically. I typically play as a standard warrior character first to get a feel for the game. I don't like jumping right in with crazy magic and spell casting abilities, etc. It's more comfortable for me that way.

I usualy try to keep totaly moral for my actual playthough of a game - but I usualy keep a spare character about for cheats, hacks, looting, pillaging, killing all the guards... But even on that data, I keep it somewhat subdued - I'm not really into just killing everything, unless it's trying to kill me first. Make of it what you will.

At the time of my voting the poll had EXTREMELY surprising results. THAT MANY people enjoy being holy goodness? wtf? I'm not an evil person but "Renegade Femshep FTW"!

I enjoy role playing, but I am always looking to do new things, so I always try to make new characters with new personas because it gets boring playing the same typecast or trope over and over.

Exactly. I try to keep away from idiotic, baby-eating villiany. I do what is pragmatic for my main goal, and whatever benefits me the most. Shooting random people is annoying and stupid.

I'm going to base this off table top RPGs because the CPU RPGs I've played don't let me do as much as I would like... *ahem*

Most of the time I am the DM, which is cool because I get to roleplay as many NPCs. Since Roleplay is a big part of RPG (the first 2 letters in fact), it's what I look forward to most. Unfortunately, unless you have good players playing under you, it's all pointless. I've had so many games where my people complain about the rules and when I make a decision on what to do, someone is pissed or annoyed and then the group pretty much falls apart after that... that and other commitments... like work.

Other than that, I was an insanely zealot Dragon Shaman who was willing to kill anyone who went against my worship of the Silver Dragon. I've been cannibal who lead a team of heroes (trust me, it made more sense than the pyromaniac in the group). I've been a teleporter who didn't do much of anything for a while. I've been a detective. I've been a generic thief.

I've done a lot of different roles. I just wish a game would last long enough for it to pan out more.

I usually play a good guy on a first playthrough, but it also depends on the game. I usually come up with a backstory for my character and try to play as close as I can to that, so sometimes he's neutral, and sometimes he's a total prick.

The only RPG I really play is Morrowind, and in that it's REALLY hard to kill someone and get away with it. However, robbing is great fun and I do it a fair bit.

I wish there was an option that said "sometimes good guy sometimes complete asshole". For me it really depends on what kind of rpg I'm playing that determines my game behavior. If I'm playing something like Persona 4 than I'm a complete goody. Not because I like those options, but because most of the time they give you better stats.

When playing something more open world like Elder Scrolls games or Mass Effect then I'm an asshole. No question about it. I'm your friend when I'm weak, but once I'm pretty much a walking god everything and everyone will suffer. You benefit when I benefit.

When I play tabletop rpgs I also choose to be the morally questionable character. Not totally evil but I rarely do nice things for everyone. I like my tabletop characters better because they have a reason for being assholes and can be reliable allies occasionally.

Unless you're a werewolf. Just never let anyone see you change. It's really the only reason I tried so hard to get infected.

I usually am completely good, but only because you usually get the best stuff when your a paragon of justice. However, in fallout I do all the good quests but steal everything that isn't nailed down. I remember my first playthrough "damn overencombred, lets see what I should drop: coffee cup, coffee cup, bit of iron, coffee cup, coffee cup, stolen jacket, coffee cup, massive amount of house keys, etc."

I play like my character is Goku... for those who don't know what that means/live in caves: I'm kind to a fault. I'll obliterate you, then become your bestest friend. Stupid Zevran made me regret that decision in my first Dragon Age playthrough D:<

morally, I'm right down the middle. I help some and abandon others. I kill those who annoy me. But everyone's wallet is an equal opportunity employer. I will rob anyone or anything tha I come across.

I'm a merciless good guy. You'd better not be evil or I'm pulling your brain out of your arse.

Hypothetically, I can't sell children into slavery or something but I would be entirely fine with murdering the slave master and his family.

Bad enough to make being good worth it.

Usually I end up having to do two more playthoughs as an evil or pure good character because if you hover in the middle and actually act like a real character you don't get rewarded. Thanks developers.
