Some people either are too self centred or are too impatient to deal with kids. They don't know it, but they are missing out on something.
And you are missing out on all the free time, money, and lack of stress that we have. :) If that makes me self centered and impatient then by golly sign me up. Hell call me anything to want if it makes you feel better about yourself.
It may seem hard to believe now but trust me when you have a child you'll realise what really brings happiness in life, and it isn't money or free-time.
are you certain? free-time and money bring me a lot of happiness. also the whole "your really missing out" thing is getting a little annoying; i'm sure i'm also missing out on the sheer pleasure of murdering 5000 people, but i don't plan on doing that either. 4000 will have to suffice

(i jest, i jest.... i also really hope that it was completely unnecessary for me to clarify that i'm joking)

I like kids until they turn 8 or 9, I find most kids around that age are annoying and don't grow out of it until they're teenagers.

But I like most kids, they aren't all just loud, dirty little creatures, like a lot of people seem to think.

If ever, I'll just adopt one and live off of him when I retire. Unless someone can go around and fix social security for me.

I don't mind kids in general, but where I work you'll get kids screaming the place down because their mum didn't buy them some Tic-Tacs or a packet of chocolate buttons. (Now at 54p for a tiny packet, who would?)

Who said I don't want to discuss children? I sure as hell didn't. What I did to is take offense to the fact that you "pity" those who do not want to have children. You asked for my opinion on children, I gave it.
Well you told me to "shut up" and "keep my bullshit to (myself)" which to me sounds like you wanted to stop any discussion.

Having a child contributes to overpopulation. Besides that, we've also got orphans. Whilst the option to adopt a child is there there is absolutely no justifiable reason to have a child.
Because realistically adoption is hard and demanding process, both in obtaining the child and then raising them. I'm personally considering having biologically one child and then adopting another of the opposite gender, but that's just me. A lot of people want to raise their own child, which is fair enough, a lot of people have less tolerance of other people's children, which I'm sure you'll understand. Also, overpopulation isn't a problem where I live (Europe) where birth rates are actually below the replacement rate, if anything us Europeans need more children!

Then she's not your child. She's your sister.
That's an opinion, from my point of view I'm an adult, she's a child, I take care of her, therefore she's my child. Families aren't always as simple as two parents and one to three kids. I can't see how you can make that judgement when you don't know either of us.

What assumptions?
Well your whole "having children is immoral because of overpopulation" argument doesn't hold in my situation since I never chose for my sister to be born, so the decision wasn't mine to make, though I strongly disagree with that argument anyway.

scary business.
Dude, try raising a kid, what you're describing is the EASY part...just wait until they start talking back...
Trust me I've spent most my life helping raise kids. My mom's a foster parent and we've had kids from 2 weeks to 16 years old.

I've seen everything that a kid is capable of

Depends on their raising. If their parents did a good job they are fine, if not; they are unbearable.

No. What I wanted to keep to yourself was the whole "holier than thou" attitude you addressed people with when they claimed they do not want to have a child.

Adoption itself is a process that can take several months, but then again a pregnancy lasts 9 whole months. After that it's no more different than raising a child of your own. You know, like you did with your sister.

They are? Haven't noticed. Still, irrelevant. Immigration rates tend to curb that.

Of course I do. That does not change the fact that it's immoral to birth a child.

I'm not making any judgement at all. She's your sister, you're her brother. Taking care of her does not make her your child. From your point of view, yes, but legally and biologically you're brother and sister.

I don't disagree with it. Whilst other children are rotting in an orphanarium families choose to have a baby instead of adopting. It's sickening at how selfish the human race is. So many families could be providing a home to those poor orphans but hey, I guess our selfish society is what defines our selfish nature. If I ever reconsider having a child I'm definetly adopting.

EDIT: FYI, I have nothing against you. I'm glad that you decided to take care of your sister. Your selflessness is inspiring. It takes a lot of courage to actually do that. What bothers me about you is your in your face attitude about children. Accept that certain couples do not want to have children and let's just leave it at that.

Sometimes I like them, sometimes I hate them. Especially the toddler age group can be infuriating, especially when the parents are doing a crappy job. It's true what they say, toddlers really are the most aggressive and, well, evil age-group.

But of course there are cute kids as well, like the scared-and-laughing baby that's an internet sensation right now. Apparently I'm good with kids too. Ah well, maybe I'll have one or two little spawns of my own some day. Not more though, no thanks.

As nations develop their birth rates plunge as people are relieved of the social and religious pressure to pump out as many babies as possible. When given a choice free of pressures, many people choose to have fewer or no children at all.
Which is in itself quite a problem too. Population aging leads to things like pension issues, social security problems, you name it. Crap like that happens when one generation isn't adequately followed up by the next.

Back that up please. Also, don't forget that not every immigrant is a child.

Mind you, population aging [http://www.un.org/esa/population/publications/worldageing19502050/] is a long established problem in many developing countries. Not to say that we need to spam babies, but it's nonsense that it's 'immoral' to birth a child. One generation needs to be replaced by the next, afterall.

Hint: Use the "Child at Heart" perk. It's utterly fantastic.

It doesn't fix Princess, but hey. She wasn't as bad as some of the other NPCs.

I don't like children. I have a hard time seeing them as persons. They lack almost all the functions I see as the definitive traits that make a human being and they're pretty much extensions of their parents until a certain age. To me, they seem more like very unforgiving, demanding, and long-lived pets whose lives you have NO permission to fuck up even the slightest or you go to prison or everyone you know hates you FOREVER.

Also, seeing how stupidly protective people are of children even when you haven't necessarily done anything to them, they're downright dangerous to interact with. I stay the fuck away from all kids under the age of 12. After then, they're alright.

EDIT - Oh, yeah, about me having children: AHAHAHAHA! No. I find it deeply disturbing that I'm even capable of bearing children. I want to get rid of my reproductive organs at some point if it becomes a financially feasible option.

I'd probably like to have children when I'm older although not wanting to is perfectly reasonable and how on high heaven is it selfish?

They scare the crap out of me because you have no idea what they are going to do, but I like them.

I hate how most adults do this aloofness thing. A kid is trying to talk to them and they just carry on speaking to the other adult like what the kid is saying doesn't matter. It probably doesn't matter but it's rude and a bad example to set. I always try and include kids in the conversation where appropriate. Usually about which pokemans they have :3

I'd have one kid I think, haven't got a man atm so that doesn't work well, :/ but I'd probably be a crap mum becuase I'm just a big kid myself.

I'm sorry, but if looking at the little bundles of joy doesn't just make you happy then.....you are a bad person. :p

How can you people be so heartless?
Oh my gosh, you have discovered that individuals react differently to different stimuli and have different preferences! Well done, well done indeed.

But, you're saying that people are BAD if they don't feel the same way as YOU do. Close, but no cigar!
