I think it is excellent. To this day it remains my favorite FPS.

Though I haven't played anything other than Halo 1 for months. I play it on my laptop but it runs crappy. I miss the other games.

Why yes I did have the most fun on Halo 3 online.

My buddy and I converted all my halo playing friends to TF2 and Ghost Recon:AW playing friends... I think if you play halo you dont know what else is out there.
That said its not a bad game.

Voted it great here. Bottom line is, I find it to be really fun. Sure, all the guns are unrealistic, but...it's a fun game.

Halo 1 was awesome and I spent hours and hours playing the co-op and multiplayer. After that I thought the franchise was just being milked for money. I still play Halo 3 a lot for the multiplayer but the single player experience of the first was by far the best because of the mystery, something every other game lacked.

Run from the FLAMES!!!!

Just a heads up, this probably will bring a lot of flaming along.

But to answer your question I only have halo 1 and 2 and they are ok.
Not sure why there's so much hate for it. If people don't like it then why not simply...not play it?
Because it's impossible to avoid... I was playing Crysis, and my mum's friend's son came along and started saying it looked like a prettier version of Halo. What?! Anyway, I view it as a giant pile of mediocrity. Nothing good about it, but it never actually does anything wrong. I've only played Halo, the story just didn't suck me in, and the difficulty curve was retarded. Also, how are we supposed to know if we like it until we've played it?

I've played and own every Halo game except for Halo Wars, mainly because it didn't seem too interesting. I personally think the Halo Series is great, it can be expanded more with back stories and stuff but otherwise, I love it.

Its ok. I like it as a game. Thats it. Too overated if you ask me. And the fact that its focused on console, which doesn't give us pc gamers a chance to give it a go. Except for 1st or 2nd if your running shitty vista.

It has a very nice soundtrack and is inarguably very polished, but otherwise it's extremely mediocre (and I'd say below average in many areas of gameplay) and doesn't deserve its popularity. I tried very hard to like it (to help justify having bought an Xbox) but... ugh, it was just so boring and unsatisfying. I remain perplexed at its appeal to this day.

And so do a lot of people. Especially on the Escapist.

Those two things don't go together...

I think they're OK games. They're nice and fun for short online sessions or with friends, but lack any real substance.

Multi-player in the first three games: Great
Single-player in the first two games: Good
Single-player in the third game, overall story: Good

Halo Wars, ODST, and online: Have not experienced.

Score: Good

For all the complaining, a simple fact remains.

Halo is a game where I get to run around and lay enemies low.

Good old fashion fun.

Not amazing, but not the pile of shit some say it is.

I thought that Halo games were ok. Not the greatest series in gaming, but definitely not the worst either.

I enjoied that story, of course I had read the books so for me the characters are more fleshed out. I might not like it as much if I hadn't read the books.

Indifferent towards the games ([small]Except for the Arbiter's levels in 2[/small]), in love with the lore, utterly f***ing hostile towards fanboys because they're entirely responsible for the Arbiter's storyline being thrown out the door, and why, you ask?

Because he isn't the goddamned generic space marine with the goddamned generic space marine weapons and the GODDAMNED generic space marine story they're all so damn hot over ([small]Seriously, the Arbiter's levels were the best in the franchise, and his story was 10x as interesting than the Chief's could ever hope to be, so what the hell? Are there ANY fans out there that can give me any REAL reasons for hating the Arbiter so damn much? ANY AT ALL!?[/small]).

Did I mention that I f***ing hate fanboys?

By the way, I voted 'Good' on account of the Arbiter's levels and the lore, otherwise it gets a resounding 'Bleh ([small]OK[/small]).'

Kind of the way Yahtzee feels towards them. Run of the Mill, adequately average (mine). It was only fun when I played with through it with my cousin in co-op. I just don't get it. BTW I missed the whole revolution that was combat evolved.
