lolwut?

This is at my home btw...
Can't top that! I wonder how much faster that would be if you were nearer to the server geographically.

14 Mbits from work, should be around 5-6 from home. Both on German DSL.
Ditto. I just checked actual speeds an hour ago because I got a new router, and it said I'm getting the 6MBit/s I'm paying for. Hooray!

EDIT: I ran it again for display here. Nice ping IMHO.

Download: 9.22 Mb/s
Upload: 0.35 Mb/s
Ping: 87ms

No idea what sort of connection it's meant to be, my parents changed providers without telling me while I was away at university.

Incidentally, I did this same test about 12 hours ago and it was completely different. The download speed was 0.something and upload was 0.0something, with a ping of 129. The connection basically dies a complete death around 10pm.

I'll be interested to try this when I get back to uni.

For those getting low numbers, try changing the server. Though I'm pretty sure that the site defaults you to the nearest one, try another anyway. I have a friend who have had better results when he tried testing with a server in LA (we're both from the Philippines).

Odd.
I think it if there was one that was closer to me, it would be a lot faster 'cause I get rediculious download speeds some times.

Well, I won't check right now as it can vary, but usually its around 0.95 down and 0.33 up.

I'm on Tesco Internet in the UK, and I don't want to change because most places want to tie you into a 12 or 18 month contract, and if I don't like it, I'm stuck.

Besides 1mb download is fine for most things, and I get reasonable pings on TF2, so what the hell.

Oh yes, I admit to being a torrent hound, I'm a member of a site that deals in UK shows that never got a commercial release, so it's one of those 'grey' areas, and I'm damned if I'm going to go to an ISP that blocks them just because I'm using a service that also would let me download a Metallica CD, you may as well shut down the whole internet if you're going to kill torrents.

Anyways, that's for another forum, that discussion, but I'd consider another UK forum if it was torrent friendly, I've never hit a 'fair usage limit' on Tesco, so that's something good.

Note I'm not saying piracy = good, just that thanks to this site, an awful lot of old TV and Radio shows are getting archived by people, that would normally just get wiped out of history.
Anyways, I'll maybe make a separate topic for this, so as not to derail this thread, lets keep here to the topic in hand, I just thought I'd add some 'colour' to prevent this ending up a 'list' thread.
