Some months, not sure how many, but a lot less than a year.

OP: It's not really a big deal to join websites, at least I don't think so. :)

Welcome, btw!

A few weeks. I came to watch ZP and kept seeing threads I would like to comment on. After seeing at least one thread that was decent everytime I visited the site for few weeks I joined.

I discovered Zero Punctuation in early 2008, and mid 2009 i joined because these were the first forums id ever seen that werent populated by attention seekers and degenerates.
And now im on here daily.

Over a year for me anyway... Well over a year between finding and joining... But once I found it I didn't go on that often... It was a few months before I started visiting regularly...

I found this site in 2006, so roughly 2 and 1/2 years. Not sure why I took so long, just didn't feel like it was the right time back then. But now I'm a member, and glad I joined.

My lecturer showed us ZP Tomb Raider anniversary video (the really early one) way-back when and became a member about 8 months later after not visiting the site at all.
As you can probably see by my post count I usually just lurk around the forums and don't post anything. Been trying to become a more active member for the past month or so.

It took me 2 years before I decided to join. And it was my first time joining any site just like the OP.

Well, I came here when Unforgotten Realms started on the Escapist and I joined the forums in January of this year. So from 15th May 2008 to 3rd Jan 2010. So 20 months. Nearly 3 years.

I followed Yahtzee here when I discovered him, back when he only had one page of videos, so I was probably here two years before I joined.

Three years. I joined to vote for Valve against Zynga. Glad to see that wasn't wasted effort. Don't care for big forums, hence why I never joined until now and why my post count is so low.

Hello Escapist members in general. So I've finally got the courage to join the site (a big deal for me,it's the first time I've joined any site) as it's got such a good/friendly forum.

I'm naturally shy when dealing with people I don't know so I've held off from joining. While this probably isn't uncommon, I've been a daily visitor to the forums for the last 18 MONTHS. I first found the escapest 4 months earlier through the zero punctuation videos.

So I ask you, how long after you found the site did you actually join? Has anyone seriously taken longer than me to join?
I found it when Yahtzee did his first videos for The Escapist[footnote]"Heavenly Sword and other stuff"[/footnote], some friends showed it to me. Then I visited weekly for two years, before joining when Rebecca Mayes came here. To the OP: [HEADING=1]Welcome![/HEADING]
This is one of the friendliest communities around. (on this side of the internet, anyway)
[sub]I did all the extravagant stuff so you could quote me and learn how to do them yourself : )[/sub]
Thanks for that Phenom828.

This is certainly one of the friendliest communities around, hence why I wanted to join. Plus alot of you are extremely funny in particular threads e.g. "Things to say upon ariving in hell".

I was here for about a month before I got to a day when I was really bored and decided to join for the hell of it.
One of the best decisions I've ever made in my eyes.
Welcome to the Escapist, by the way.
I hope you enjoy your time here!

I joined about six minutes after I visited the site, to watch ZP, of course.

I just found some interesting forums a while after I found out about this site. That's why I joined the escapist.

Around a Year I suppose

I would originally just watch Zero Punctuation, no Lurking, didn't even think about joining the site or anything, but during the Year I did decide to check on a Thread or Two I spotted from the Latest Post/Hot Threads Bar.

Seems you yourself are new here, so I welcome you to our Less than Humble home (Seriously, it get pretty Elitist at times, be careful)

See, this is pretty tricky for me to answer, cos I had read various things on the site and in the forums months before I joined. But that was just part of ordinary Internet browsing. Like how you google something, get a link to wikipedia, and then spend the next hour clicking things like a madperson.

However, I guess I properly DISCOVERED the site a year ago... Yeah, yeah, cliche... Was introduced to ZP, yadda yadda. However, I joined just hours after seeing my first ZP video, because I only watched the ones that pertained to games I was interested in at the time. I figured I'd binge-watch them, and then leave. Much like how i'll read a webcomic trough to its end, and then never look at it again. Or maybe just look back at a particular issue once or twice, years later.

Ah, but then, while watching an episode, I spotted something magical! The "latest posts" box. And one of the topics listed pertained to the first part of the special Red Dwarf episode/miniseries/thingy that I'd just watched. And I felt I had to post. I then began to browse, Reading all about the stuff that was going on in peoples' heads.

It was about 4 months before I finally joined this site.

I was attracted by ZP, then I realised that the forums weren't like other forms. They were different, better so I decided to join.
