Second off, I will cover this one up with philosophy, technically, we can see into the future,If I plan on waving my finger in 5 seconds and say I will then do it in exactly 5 seconds then I have predicted the future. Now of course I had full control over the situation but wether in such a small scale or when reffering to problems like china becomming the next world's superpower, problems that are within our control, the future is what we make of it so if we know what we'll be doing then we'll be seeing into the future...sortof.
But that depends entirely on the end of humanity being within our control. If another species decide to wipe us out or if there is some act of nature that causes us to be eliminated, then we have no control, and therefore we can't predict it. Also, if we had control over the end of humanity, would we do anything to stop it? Or would we be able to even? If we can predict it happening by it being in our control, can we stop it? If we can't, then would it truly be in our control?

However I still say that we'll likely be here within the next 5000 years just evolved to suit the enviroment we've created.
But would we still be humans then? After all, we just (In theory) evolved from the monkeys, yet the two species have significant enough differences to be different species. So would we be a different species again?

I respect your opinions and ideas, these are just a few questions I'm wondering.

Until the sun blows up, I'd say.
We seem to be the dominant species, so all we have to do is cover up the "Nuke Everything" button and we'll be a-ok.

It's not like we are being hunted by anything else so we will last a long time.
Ah yes, but being hunted isn't the problem, even if we did have predators (which would probably have to be of mythical werewolf/vampire proportions to do harm to even a part of our society) The only thing that could end us is a world changing event, of course there are several just waiting to happen: Yellowstone could erupt (which it is overdue for), an asteriod could hit us (which I think we are also overdue for) or a good ol fashioned earthquake-in-the-wrong-place-setting-off-lots-of-volcanos.

Or someone could get bored and fire off a few nukes and nuclear winter us all :D

We may "die out" eventually either through evolution or, we can only hope its possible, mating with hot aliens until they are no "pure" humans left. Epic Quote:
"We have failed to uphold Brannigan's Law. However I did make it with a hot alien babe. And in the end, is that not what man has dreamt of since first he looked up at the stars?" (Captain Zapp Brannigan)

Pretty damn long, we're unlike other species.

Hang on, they nicked that from Red Dwarf. The Earth has german measles, that's why no aliens go near it and humans are puss-filled cold sores.

Not nessesarily, we accuratly predict the forcast of a daily basis.

And as for your secondly, i'd say we'd still be humans sinse I would think we'd still be civilized so no matter how we'd look we'd probably classify ourselves as humans as we are capable of doing so.

I personally doubt that a "God" is going to kill us. "War" "famine" "desease" and "death" can often be traced back to people as the root of the problem. so we are more likely to kill ourselves than anything.

This is a question that has been pondered since the days of ancient Greece and beyond, how long will the human race survive?

I think we can last a very long time if we are at least a little lucky, assume we dont fuck ourselves up in the next 100 or so years we should be able to settle Mars and eventually discover how to travel at FTL speeds, so Im going to say either we fuck ourselves very soon, or we last a very long time.
Actually, a new theory says that if we attempt FTL speeds, we will destroy the earth, and anything that goes through the bubble of space for FTL will die.
They said that about basic space travel as well before we tried it, and if we do go to FTL speeds, we aren't gonna do that from Cape Cod, man, we are gonna be in space before we even attempt it

Well in a few billion years (not sure how many exactly, I think like 2 billion about) the sun will get so hot that water on Earth can no longer exist in liquid form so the Oceans will evaporate. This is not to say that humanity will last that long but unless we colonize other worlds before that happens then that is our time limit.

Depends on if you mean survive (at least one human left breathing) or prosper (Star Trek fantasy world).

If survive, probably for a while.

Propser probably not much longer.

How long will we survive? I'd wager just long enough for the zombies to convert too many of the living into more zombies resulting in a world-wide brain-famine which will ultimately end the human race despite futile attempts by the zombies to subsist on various animals' brains...human brains are much more nutritious and unlife-sustaining, as any proper zombie like myself knows...whoops, I've said to much. Brraaaiiiinnnnnssssss...

Rather than asking how long we have left, why not ask what exists that could possibly cause our total extinction as a species?

Nuclear war? Even if Dear Leader decides to take a few American cities with him on the way out and if all the other world leaders lack the presence of mind to not FIRE ALL ZE MISSILES!!! then it's not like the entire surface of the planet will be scoured of life. No one's going to nuke the Amazon rainforest or the Outer Hebrides.

Disease? Inevitably there will be enough people with some resistance or failing that, some pockets of humanity will be cut off anyway.

Meteor? We'll see a massive extinction event but we're omnivores and at the very least can contrive some method of keeping at least a portion of our populace fed enough to bounce back. Unless it's a very big meteor, but those are hard to predict. The question in that case becomes "Can we get enough people self sufficient off Earth before one arrives?".

Earth will probably be habitable in some fashion until the Sun swells up to become a red giant, which won't happen for at least eight billion years. In the meantime we have, literally, all the time in the world to expand to fill our solar system. Colonisation of Mars is pretty well inevitable, though it certainly won't happen in my lifetime, just as space colonisation will become more and more practical. The more we expand, the harder it will be to kill us.
