I've often wondered how many mainstream gamers are vegetarian or vegan. I know we're already a small percentage of the world's population as it is. Seems I can count on one hand the number of times I've met another gamer who is.

And this can turn into a heated debate overnight... no flame wars please.

I'm an omnivore but I haven't eaten a lot of meat lately since I am, to put it bluntly, poor as shit. I can't afford fruits or vegetables either. I've been living off of Mr. Noodles and Kraft Dinner for the better part of two months. But now that I'm getting a paycheck again that should change and I can eat meat again.

EDIT: Also, none of the choices in the poll apply to me. (If I have money,) I am an occasional meat eater who doesn't avoid red meat.

But, if I didn't eat meat, there'd be no steak or burgers or hotdogs or ham or any other delicious things!

Besides, mankind was made to eat everything. I think the least we could do to acknowledge our ancestors is to kill an animal, roast it, and nomnomnom its innards.

I rarely eat red meat, just because it's a bit heavy for me. I don't eat very much meat in general for the same reason. If I do have meat in a meal, it tends to be chicken or fish.

I love me a good potato, though. I know, unrelated. But I had one for dinner, and it was delish!

Same here. When I'm cooking for myself I usually make vegetable stews or veggie stir-fry or what have you; when I have the money and the time (so maybe twice a month?) I usually prefer meat dishes with beef or lamb over poultry or fish.

waiter: "how would you like your steak?"

Me: "screaming, if at all possible."

That always gets a little chuckle out of people. Although i object to offering financial support for our current meat industry. Its overly barbaric, and thats a problem for me. So i try to cut back.

I don't eat steak, porkchops, ribs, ot lamb. But all eat chicken and hot dogs. So I'm a semi-veggy.... minus the veggies and replace it with un healthy snacks.

The answer to your poll is, "We cannot know how many gamers are vegetarian because this is a voluntary survey based only on the members of the Escapist who chose to view this thread and answer it, and not on the gamer population as a whole")

I love eating chicken. I have that several times a week. Red meat I eat a lot less frequently because I don't like it as much.

Pretty much with every meal; if it's not meat then it's a meat product like eggs or dairy.

I like pork and chicken most, not so much beef or fish. Eggs are delicious too.

It's a scientific fact that eating meat makes you awesome. I mean, look at T-Rex. Totally badass.

Sorry, total carnivore here.

If it walks, swims or flies upon this Earth there's a decent chance I'll be willing to eat it.

Beef, chicken, fish, lamb, 'seafood', etc, it's all good.

Hell if someone said "Here's some rattlesnake I fried up! [http://www.motofoto.cc/RattlesnakeRU_20.jpg]" or "We just slaughtered a horse, want a cut of it?" I'd be willing to try it, if I was in a place where eating insects was common and they had some giant locust or something for me to try, well, if it's cooked into something where I couldn't really see what it was I'd probably still be willing to try it.

The ONE major line I draw is I won't eat major land predators, meaning if someone I know went hunting and bagged a mountain lion I wouldn't be willing to eat it, same with if I was in a place where eating dog or cat is common it's just not something I would do, and so on so forth. I can't really give a really good response as to why I draw a line there but am willing to eat almost anything else, besides dogs/cats for reasons that should be fairly obvious to most westerners.

God HELP you if you stand between me and my beef! And there isn't a force on Earth that will stop me from reaching that steak if there's a bread roll next to it.

Seriously, I do enjoy meat, but it's not an everyday thing.

I'm a vegetarian (I've been one since I was 14), but I still eat dairy and eggs.

Totally registered on this 'site (someone linked me here and I saw the forum link on the right-hand side of the window) for the sole purpose of saying "Me me me me me!"

I mostly go for soya milk over the normal sort and I don't mind eating eggs in cakes and stuff (well, I kind of do, but I love cakes), so I'm not exactly vegan - but I don't eat any meat or fish, so I'm definitely veggie!

I don't understand how anyone could live without eating meat.

A fun part for me is that we're raising some of our own meat. Got a few cows and a pig out in our small pasture. They're sooooo good...
