Almost had my box for a year now but latley it seems like its..... slowing down?
I mean the games on my harddrive take about 2.5X longer to load up (in the menu) than before...

I seem quite lucky compared to my friends since i've never had a major problem (did hoover it once due to a large dust build up)

i'm still have my first xbox, i've had it for 2 years and a month and played on it loads and you can tell by the VERY loud noise

but my friend has had one since it came out and is on his fifth one so had 4 replacements!!

I had to replace my PS2 like 3 times, never buy used!
Xbox got red rings so had to get it fixed, but has been doing pretty good since then...

Seriously? Some one replaced more then 3 to five times??
Never heard of a warranty?

Interesting, so it was mostly blown out of proportion from what I'm hearing so far.

Just wanted to say that the Red Ring of Death, as I understand it, is the one where your Xbox ceases to function completely, and that a similar red ring will occur with lack of power but the Xbox will be fine. I don't necessarily count this as a breakdown, if I did my Xbox would technically have broken down 3 or 4 times already, but thanks for the input.

I've had mine (A premium) for about a year and three months and never had a big problem with it. I did get red lights maybe 2 or 3 times, but that was due to power issues and it fixed itself. Other than that, nothing wrong.

I've had mine since launch and it's still going strong. The only reason you hear more about broken 360s is because those of use who take care of them are too busy playing to complain.
Yeah, I agree. I'm not saying that the hardware itself doesn't screw up, but after seeing just how badly damaged some of the used disks (hell, even just some of the game cases) at the game stores I frequent are, I'm convinced that some people just plainly don't know how to take care of their shit.

When I got it, looked the same as the RRODs I've seen in pictures, so I'm not really sure why I'd seemed to be just a temporary failure.

or both simultaneously. I haven't had a breakdown since I left that apartment so now it's just me smoking weed and cigarettes in close proximity to the system. (thanks to M$oft for extending the warranty days before each breakdown)
So the damn things are Asthmatic as well these days?! blimey.

It's unlikely (but not impossible) that the smoke in itself did any harm to the console. I would look at possible mistreatment/bad handling from the weed smoker's impaired co-ordination before anything else.

Hah, that made me laugh quite loudly to be honest, reminded me of myself playing Guitar Hero III while drunk, that little Fisher Price guitar took a beating.

Still on my first X-Box 360. Occasionally have it screw up high-end games like Mass Effect or Oblivion, but saving often makes that a slightly less annoying thing to deal with.

Well, I got my first 360 for Christmas of last year and a couple days ago it finally broke from some E-74 error shit. So I just put '2' down because I have to send it in and it might get replaced.

My xbox broke twice. The first one it went "blind" you know when you here the sound but you don't get any picture and my second one had the RROD but to tell you the truth i never even considered buying a PS3 or a Wii

I think the new ones have a better proccessor so there's less RROD's, but let's see, 33% failure rate, obviously, the other 67% has only had one...right?

Find out how many people own 360's and then do the math and you've got your answer.

Currently on my 3rd. The first got 1 red light, the second has a disk drive problem. My current one has some overheating issues even with my cooler, so I think i'l have a 4th in a mounth or two.
