I am 21 and I play games because I was introduced to them at a young age with nintendo's first three consoles, and really stuck with it after realizing how much fun they can be.
I'm not terribly impressed with the current generation of systems/games, but still believe in gaming as a culture because they're basically interactive movies.

and the game that started it all for my was Doom on 95.

Back then I played them for fun, and now I use it to let out my anger.... and because it's entertainment.

There's lotsa reason, mostly based around the escapist nature of gaming and its cathartic potential.

I'm 26 - I play video games because I enjoy them, and it's something I've been doing for 20 years now. More specifically I enjoy exploring fantastical settings or engaging in activities I'd have to be insane or superhuman to do in real life.
