Poll: How smart do you think you are compared to other people?

I haven't seen any results yet, but I am going to make an educated guess. A much larger proportion of people voted above average than average or below average. This shows how egotistic and self indulging you are. Maybe its true, maybe it just happened that an intelligent amount of people saw and viewed this. Maybe the viewers of this website are above average intelligence. This is very unlikely, as most of you would fail a retard internet test. So what do YOU O Intelligent One, think of this? Because you matter so much I would adore your input.

Or maybe the people who go to The Escapist are smarter than the average person(except for the trolls). That's my personal opinion. From what I have seen here, the average intelligence is quite high here(go to GameTrailers and look at the comments-section, then go look at comments or threads here).

I say i'm about average maybe a tiny wee bit above average, however intelligence can be measured in numerous ways so its really depending on what you measure intelligence. If intelligence is drawing a picture or creative intelligence then i'm dumber than dumbo. If it is on emotional intelligence i'm fairly average. Logic = average. Common sense = i'd fail along with many seriously clever people i know. Darn its all subjective really which is partly why i object to mensa only judging intelligence on IQ tests, especially when you can train for them and learn the style of questions.
All in all yes i'm going to say i'm average but more intelligent than some.

Below average, but please allow me to explain.

I am a graduate student who accepts nothing less than perfect scores.

I am incredibly brilliant in the academic setting, which explains, in part, why I want to remain in that setting for my profession.

HOWEVER,

I readily accept that I drop an obligatory 15 IQ points when I do simple things like, oh say, drive a new type of car for the first time. There are a great many 'street smart' situations where I would utterly fail in being knowledgeable. There are social rules that I fail to recognize for remaining completely oblivious.

I have one type of intelligence in abundance, a handful of others in deficience, and the rest as average.

I think human arogance, the mind-set of many folks who post on these forums and the fact that most idiots aren't smart enough to know that they're idiots means that we're bound to get more aboves than bellows.

Personally, I think election results and reality-TV ratings prove that I'm smarter than most folks

I'm a very fast learner, with a high IQ... just don't have much common sense or social skills so I'm putting myself slightly above average.

Since you don't see many flame wars on this forum, I'd say most people are above average or more of normal intelligence.

People call me very smart. My IQ has been rated in the 145-150 range. (by psychologist, not an internet test.) I find myself to pick up on new concepts far faster than my peers. That is why I judge myself to be far above average.

Of course, this is the internet, nobody will, nor should anyone believe me.

Uh. Types of intelligence... I have trouble understanding statistical procedures, but I do fine in calculus. I'm usually the mediator in social situations, so I think that means that my emotional intelligence is okay? My forte is in English and art, I'm more arts oriented. And my highschool result last year placed me in the top 6.5% of the state academic-wise, though that score's flawed for anyone because of scaling and such. I'm at the third best uni in the country too, so, uh, am I justified in my thinking that I'm above average in intelligence? *Shields face*

It's hard to say....
I guess I'd rate myself slightly above average on acount of being insightfull and being able to think fast wich keeps me ahead of most people I meet in conversation.

Though my lack of capacity to retain knowledge I deem "uninteresting" keeps me from reaching "considerably" above average.

Several of my good friends have told me I'm the most intelligent person they've ever met but I refuse to believe that. I don't feel THAT smart. Plus it's a depressing thought.

Seriously, I find some of your post a bit rich. The results to such a question were obviously going to head in this direction, possibly innacurately, and all you did was post an obvious question with an obvious answer and gleefully guess the results.

If you had asked whether our IQs were high or low, you may have gotten a more varied response. And a more accurate one. IQ tests are obviously inadequate for measuring how intelligent a person is for many reasons, but not compared to the personal opinions of the people being tested. This is just looking for subjectivity at its greatest point.

How smart we think we are is never going to line up with how smart we really are. The whole point of being smart is knowing the difference.

People at The Escapist are generally older than the average forum-goer, depending on the circles you travel in. But I think that's a fair rule, even if it is just from personal experience. Anyway, if that is true, then people are probably more educated, experienced and well-read than in other communities.

So, there may be some legitimacy to the response. It's not wise to assume that since this is an internet forum, everyone is an intellectual failure. It doesn't work like that. Maybe on 4chan, but not here.

I don't like it when someone makes a thread about intelligence then promptly makes a worthless generalisation about the nature of people on the Internet. In joke, maybe it passes. But if you're serious, come on!
