A better question is "how many people took online IQ tests and think they stand for anything?"
,or even normal IQ tests. They don't always show the most intelligent people apparently. I wouldn't know though, I haven't taken any.
Indeed. I know I've taken a few online tests, and was amazed at how ridiculous they are. 10 or 15 easy problems/riddles that anyone with access to google is guaranteed to get 100% on.

Then again, maybe there are some legitimate ones out there that I've missed. If so, can someone point me towards one?

I'm gonna' say I'm "slighty above average," but I'm basing this off the intelligence of the average American. Low fucking bar.

I'd say average, but to be honest I have no idea. Don't really care that much either. I'd hate to find out I have a high IQ then turn into a prick because of it.

Well, Sokrates was the smartest man in Athen not because of what he knew, but because he knew how litle he actually knew...

So congratulation the two people who (has when im writing this) said you're way bellow average, you might be the smartest.

Myself, I put above average. I usually score somewhere around 150-160 on IQ tests, but to be honest, I don't think that matter. I think logical reasoning and understanding of the human society is more important (but a lot harder to test)

The Escapist is not a perfect slice of humanity's population. Ergo, the poll cannot accurately test this theory properly. However, if you insist...

I see alot of people do stupid things in life that I never would, simply because they wouldn't occur to me. Many a people are actually low in intelligence while others merely have DUH moments at a given time. A person who learns from their own mistakes is wise and will go far. I have a bit of an advantage on others. I learn from other people's mistakes so that I really have little to regret in life. Common sense tells me that half the shit going on in the world can be avoided, but people don't, and there are reasons for it that are either horrifying or hilarious.

But before I get caught up in a tangeant, I'm going to stop right there and let someone else talk about what's wrong with the world.

I have high grades and I am taking very advanced classes. But I do not think having high grades means your smart. I think I have average intelligence.

I said slightly above average simply because when I took the SAT in the 7th grade I made a 1200, and when I took it my junior year I made a 1800.

I'm slightly above average, at least smarter than most of my friends. I suck at anything involving athletics or creativity though.

I was told my IQ was 124 (or somewhere around there). As for common sense...

Well, let me put it this way.

High INT
Low WIS
Average CHA

'nuff said.

I would say that I'm slightly above average/above average. At least when it comes to certain kinds of intelligence (if there is such a thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_multiple_intelligences)

I have an IQ of 174 so I am actualy very far above average. Yay me!
You do know that the standard IQ test only goes up to 160? And that I believe only Stephan Fry has that level. With Hawking at about 158.

I'm going to raise a point that maybe we've skipped unknowingly. The result in this web won't reflect on the large scale of the "World" since, not everyone is interested in the content of this web, I'd dare to say that the people that visit this site, and take their time to answer in the polls in the forum are not the average people you'd take at large.

PD: Excuse my possible grammatical/vocabulary errors. English is not my main language :(

My (non mensa symbol recognition cheap knockoff) IQ tests put me in the 140 range.
I rescently had a test in correlation with military service that gave me a 62 out of 78 (and it was redokulously hard logic problem matrices that bit my bum)

Then there's the fact that I am slightly mad...

id have to say at least slightly above average. ive got good common sense, so i avoid things that will cause me some kind of harm. most average-intelligence people dont do that all the time.

I would say I was some amazing super genius with an IQ of 250, but that would make me feel like a prick. I am good enough for mensa, if that helps.

Doing law at a very good uni, got good a-levels without really trying, got great GCSEs without really trying and I came second in a debating championship won by two people who are now both at Oxford... I'm not a genius or anything, but, yeah, I'm pretty smart.

I also usually get around 130-140 on IQ tests, but I don't trust them (being, as they are, bullshit) so I'm going to base my answer on my aforementioned achievements

I'm always a bit suspicious of people who base their claim to intelligence on IQ test scores

I have also been told I'm quite the wit and raconteur but I really don't know about that

One way in which I'm below average is that I have a terrible memory for faces and voices. well, not terrible, but I often forget people's faces and it takes me a while to recognise them. I'm also not good at following instructions. It's not that I don't want to out of some petulant desire to rebel or something, its just that I don't have a good memory for verbal lists. Written lists I can remember extremely well, but if someone gives me a list of instructions verbally, it just goes in one ear and out the other. Maybe I'm just too arrogant to listen to anyone else, which is definitely a shortcoming! Really, though, my biggest limitation is my attention span, which basically means I drift off and miss important information.

I'm also fucking lazy, which seems to be a recurring theme in other people's answers

I go to university, only 10% of the population does that in my country. The number is rising D:! (In my opinion only the top 10% should be able to go to university). Also I know a lot of average people, and boy are they stupid. I was shocked to learn that my uncle didn't know the two countries we're bordering. Considering we live in one of the smallest countries in the world that couldn't survive for a day without import, that's quiet shocking.
But of course we first need to define what being smart is. I once had a discussion about bonobos being the smartest creatures on earth. All they do every day is have sex and sit in a tropical rain forest while their bodies make it so they are not bothered by insects and such. A 3 year old bonobo has had 1000 times more sex then I have had, and probably is enjoying his time on earth more then me. So who am I too say I'm smarter then him?
