This thread is incredibly masturbatory. Flinging numbers around an internet thread to prove your intelligence makes you come across as actually a very insecure person, just so you're all aware.
I'm intelligent enough to have got the place in the university I wanted to go to, and to be getting on alright there. That's enough for me.

Incidentally, judging from the poll results and my own personal observations, I would say that a great many people on this site aren't as smart as they THINK they are.

Well without defining average, the majority of polled individuals could be correct about being above average. Is the average based on the entire world, or just a certain nation?
Also internet users tend to be in more advanced and therefore more educated nations, so if it's overall knowledge, that would help.
I can say with certainty that I'm above average though, I scored in the 98th-99th percentile in college placement exams and IQ tests. While neither are ideal for determining intelligence, the margin of error isn't so great to put me below average, or even average.

I'm above average. While I would argue that an IQ score counts for jack shit, I managed to get something like 124 when I was around Middle School age (11-13). Now, I really couldn't care for them so I haven't done one since. I prefer not to give my intelligence as a number but prove to you that I can actually think in straight lines and formulate a coherent argument. Sadly, when it comes time to discuss things I'll end up mixing my words and not seeming as intelligent as I am. The same sort of thing happens when I write. If I write by hand I'll often make many mistakes and my handwriting is often illegible because I'm trying to get all of the thoughts out before they are taken over by new ones. To put it as arrogantly as possible, my mind is too fast for me.

I've been told I'm extremely gifted my entire life... I tend to test in the IQ 140-150 range.
...yet there are some things I just have a hell of a time learning. I'm terrible with people and I just don't understand most social cues or the reason for social roles.

Generally I doubt you're going to find many people of below-average intelligence on a forum that among nerds is known for its intellectual snobbery.Innegativeion said:

It's fun - and occasionally useful - to impress others with your ability to concisely express complicated thoughts in complex pollysyllabic words, put in complex sentences, featuring far too few full stops to be easily understood by anyone who did not as a previous occupation translate Latin epic writers, or is willing to spend an unneccesarily large chunk of his time deciphering a sentence that is altogether too unwieldy to properly communicate said complicated thought - even though one can possibly admire the fact that even after four full lines the sentence still makes sense.

It's about the same thing with what we call "intelligence", as featured in IQ tests.
(And please don't turn this ridiculous by going "oh, but that's not so complicated that my superior mind can't understand that". I'm not trying to compare dick sizes, I'm trying to say that I'm slowly reaching the conclusion that intelligence has next to no intrinsic value.)
