What I find most amusing is people who splurge out l33t or completely illegible gibberish, then get all pissy when someone says they aren't making any sense. In some cases, writing like a moron must take more effort than writing like someone with functional braincells.

There's a huge difference between dropping a "teh" or just plain typoing now and then, but you can't expect anyone to give you any respect or credibility if lol ur talkin lik ur on yer selfone 2 ur bro lol and r soopid 2.

I always make an effort to try. I don't always succeed in using correct spelling, grammar, etc., but I always try.

For the most part, I stick with proper English. On occasion, I choose to go with common internet misspellings simply because I feel like it. Whenever I use "teh", it's because I feel like being a particularly jovial internet-goer. Such usage is intentionally tongue-in-cheek.

I can usually accept typos and misspellings by other people, and I'm never sure if it's proper form to point them out to their owners. I just leave them be, unless it comes to my attention that it's a repeat offense.

I cannot take anyone seriously if it's obvious they're putting no effort into their grammar. It's just one of those trade-offs they'll have to live with.

I always re-read my posts. And Chrome's spell-check is amazing (I know it isn't proper form to start a sentence with a conjunction such as "and", but sentence structure is probably the one thing to which I give the most leeway).

On the Internet, I'm usually represented ONLY through text. The way I see it, making frequent use of poor spelling and/or grammar online wouldn't be much different from not taking regular showers in real life.

I try but I am dyslexic so sometimes I mess up. However I don't mind 'u' being used but I never understood 'teh' as its the same amount of letters to type :/.

I'm dyslexic too, but thanks to the internet I've actually much improved my grammar because it gave me an environment where I could practice a whole lot. Yes, you make mistakes, I still make tonnes, but with friends who can correct you in a friendly manner, and the paitence to improve, you can do it.

As for "teh", I do it all the time, but it's a typo. I've gotten too confident in my typing abilities, and hence when I try to write the, I will hit all three keys almost simultaneously, resulting in the annoying "teh". I usually catch it, but if it's at the end of a IM or post it sometimes slips by.

Edit: forgot to actually answer the OP. Yea, I do my best to write as correct as I can everywhere, including the internet. It makes me easier to understand, and also helps me improve on my writing abilities which is always good.

And as someone else mentioned, the Chrome spell checker is something I've recently discovered and it's awesome. Thank you so much Google! Now internet kiddies should have no excuse.

I use the same sort of grammar on the internet that I use when I speak. An English teacher may find fault with it here and there, but the sentences are complete and the thoughts are easily found.

If I have to swap various letters into someone's work to try to figure out what they're talking about, I don't bother with them... I don't have the time to put in to making their point clear if they didn't bother.

I wish there was a middle option. Depending on the situation, and how I feel, I deal with grammar and spelling differently. When I'm playing games like LoL I tend to let minor slip ups go by because you can't be expected to spell perfectly under pressure. I do try to hold up a bare minimum of spelling and grammar in places like forums though.

I don't mind too much unless the mistakes are horrible monstrosities of what I used to remember as the English language.


P.S: I hate "more better" it tends to piss me off quickly.

You can type however you want, just don't be surprised at the crack of the ice when it appears under your feet when people start flaming you. Me? I make an effort to write and type to a high standard. Chats, forums, anywhere! Unless I'm using a phone, in that case all grammar and spelling goes out the window.

I have no issue with people making slight mistakes, I know I don't have flawless typing skills, especially after a few drinks, but people who don't even put the effort in... Well, if you don't make your little musings readable, it's your own fault if people don't read them, isn't it?

I've always figured that if something was worth saying, it was worth saying properly. Sure, I could save a couple seconds online, but only at the cost of looking like a complete idiot, which isn't very helpful when, say, trying to submit ones' opinion or position on a forum debate.

I always like to proof-read everything I put up on the internet. If I'm going to post anything anywhere, I might as well take the time to make sure it's understandable. When people try to argue a point and it looks like something a dog threw up, it doesn't help you much.
