I'll go with Timesplitters. It's an old game that still manages to be fun, it's got great weapons and maps more interesting than most of those in modern games, it's got entirely customized maps, and it has an entirely demented sense of humor. It's just simply fun.

Sadly, I could not list EVERY SINGLE FPS out there, due to space issues.

Well, you could take out Gears because it's not an FPS and put something else in.

Sorry mate, but i'm trying to go for a broad range of shooters, not just FPS.

Well, the poll system used here on the Escapist only allows for 8 choices and even if that was not a issue, I could not POSSIBLY list EVERY SINGLE SHOOTER in the last 10 years. So there.

Also, that is why there is a "None of the Above" option.

If critics can ditch it in with the rest of the genre then we can do. Besides, the perspective is literally the only thing that sets it apart from the rest of the genre.

OT: Gears of War has always had a place in my heart, and although I love many of the options you gave gears will always be my favourite.

Fair enough, I was just arguing semantics. Also that the OP's list is extremely limited and has way too narrow a vision. There isn't even an "other" option.

Got to agree with this man right here folks.

Moments like you see in campaigns for other shooters happen in Battlefield multiplayer EVERY DAY.

Sadly, I lost my first Battlefield 2 disk for install (I don't own the Complete Collection on Steam, own the original, 3 disk hard copy with no add-on packs) and I lost my old computer to hardware failure and have no money to replace it/fix it. :'(

So now i'm stuck with this piece of scrap that i'm typing this thing on now for the time being.

Oh well, DirectX 8 TF2 is still fun as hell.

I do play some non-mainstream stuff from time to time, but usually at a friends house, but I do know there is TONS of great shooters out there, i'm just taking from what I own and played(ish).

Bulletstorm is my favorite FPS. I would have voted for Deadspace or Gears of war, or Mass Effect but none of these are technically FPS.
