Shelder/cloyster is always a good choice, not very many pokemon learn ice type moves. Ice is also week to fire but water is not, so the major weakness cancels out.If you don't wanna go with that like was said previous garidose isn't bad if you have the time to commit to evolving a magikarp. But of your list Krabby/Kingler is your best choice, I never use the worthless peices of shit but you might :D.

Stay away from tentacool for the love of the flying spagetti monster stay away from that terrible pokemon.
Welcome to the Escapist! Congrats on your first post.

I'd use them, but Cloyster is more of a Special attacker. Good Attack stat, no good physical moves.
Cloyster has that ability to land a 2-5 turn hit into a 5 hit no matter what. Icicle cannon should be fine
SHHH!

[sub]Real reason:

I'm too lazy to keep catching/breeding them until I get the ability. It's already hard enough to get the right natures.

Do you know how long it took me to get an Adamant Technician Scyther?![/sub]

You do have a point. I'm more of the breeding type/masuda method abuser.

These are the options I'm considering in Soul Silver. The rest of my team is Special focused, so I figured I'd go with more Physical Water types.

For those who haven't playing Pokemon in the Diamond/Pearl generation, moves are now individually based off of either Attack or Special Attack. For example, Waterfall uses Physical Attack, and Surf uses Special Attack. Both are Water type moves, though.

I need a Water type at this point...and need some help choosing. The above Water pokemon are the only physical ones that I can catch at this point in the game.

[HEADING=2]NO GODDAMN GYARDOS![/HEADING]

I've used them too many times before in games.
Might I suggest Mylotec? If you can get him, he's badarse, I watched my friend get fucked up by a level 50 Mylotec the other night. He's uber strong.
-edit- You need to evolve Feebas by giving it berries that max out the beauty stat.
Not sure the berries. look on www.serebii.net At the very least that sight will give you a good list of water pokeyman's.
I myself am currently using wooper in Soul Silver, but that's because I was desperate for a water pokemon. I need and want to find some thing stronger.

I would go with the Krabby/Kingler option. It can learn crabhammer which is a freaking powerful move.

I opted Quagsire, since it gets decent moves, Stab EQ + Stab Waterfall, and all the rest is crap.

Tentacruel, trust me, he's been in about 3 of my teams. The thing is super fast for a water type. Also, they have some lovely passive abilities now, clear body which makes them immune to status change or another one which paralyzes Pokemon making physical attacks.

Having said that, Quagsire's good because it's a ground/water type (great against electric types, rubbish against grass) and Kingler is just mean as hell. I have no idea why Poliwrath is winning, it's a good Pokemon but unless you really want a fighting type and you can't fit one in anywhere else, I'd say it's not worth it.

Vaporeon or Lapras are good pre-national dex pokemon
Actually I'd second Lapras. It's slow, but it's dual ice/water types counter-act it's fire and grass weaknesses. Still vulnerable to fighting and lightning moves however...
