[HEADING=1]POLL GOT REALLY ACTIVE, SO I'M TAKING SUGGESTIONS AGAIN![/HEADING]

These are the options I'm considering in Soul Silver. The rest of my team is Special focused, so I figured I'd go with more Physical Water types.

For those who haven't playing Pokemon in the Diamond/Pearl generation, moves are now individually based off of either Attack or Special Attack. For example, Waterfall uses Physical Attack, and Surf uses Special Attack. Both are Water type moves, though.

I need a Water type at this point...and need some help choosing. The above Water pokemon are the only physical ones that I can catch at this point in the game.

[HEADING=2]NO GODDAMN GYARDOS![/HEADING]

I've used them too many times before in games.

Shelder/cloyster is always a good choice, not very many pokemon learn ice type moves. Ice is also week to fire but water is not, so the major weakness cancels out.If you don't wanna go with that like was said previous garidose isn't bad if you have the time to commit to evolving a magikarp. But of your list Krabby/Kingler is your best choice, I never use the worthless peices of shit but you might :D.

Stay away from tentacool for the love of the flying spagetti monster stay away from that terrible pokemon.

Floatzel man. It's gotta be Floatzel.
Lemme just go catch one...OH WAIT...I can't. Shit. And I can't use the GTS because I have to see it first...

I fucking loved Floatzel in D/P/P.

Krabby/Kingler is extremely Physically oriented and defensive, evolves at level 27, I'm using one myself atm, however it hasn't learned and physical water moves yet and it's level 25, and not particularly amazing at the minute. I think I'll just turn it into a Hm slave and use Gyrados as my Battling Water type. (sorry)

Don't like Tentacool/Tentacruel, but then again i don't like any poisons except Nidoking.

Never used the Poli's in my team but if I remember right they're fairly balanced all round, so I'd go for them.

Good for you not picking the easily obvious option! :)
It's been some time since I raised a kingler for anything but filling out a dex so things may have changed slightly. But my vote goes for the Crabby one.

On a side note, last time I evolved a magikarp i took not of it's stats... at upon evolution, they actually LOWER...
Next time you're raising a magikarp... Take not of it's stats, compare to another pokemon, and be surprised as to how awesome magikarp COULD have been... should it learn more than two moves in it's lifetime.

Btw... gyaradoses really aren't a whole lot of special in themselves. imo

Oh, you could go for the defencive with tentacruel..

Welcome to the Escapist! Congrats on your first post.

I'd use them, but Cloyster is more of a Special attacker. Good Attack stat, no good physical moves.

Quagsire can be a good stalwart. He's just a bit....lame.

His weakness to grass can be countered by having a move tutor teach him ice punch.

Waterfall
Yawn

Cloyster has that ability to land a 2-5 turn hit into a 5 hit no matter what. Icicle cannon should be fine

Poliwag-to-wrath. It's a water Pokemon that knows how to hypnotize opponents and if you keep that ability through the evolutionary stages into Poliwrath, you could have a pretty sweet water/fighting Pokemon.

BY YOUR POWERS COMBINED, I AM WILFORD BRIMLEY!
OT: I'd go with Kingler. Don't know why; I just like it.
