I want Shepard to die halfway through ME3.
Then play as Garrus calibrating guns to shoot at the reapers.

Mmm, it's kinda tricky. I actually see four options:
A) Shep saves the galaxy, lives happily and awesome ever after...
A1) with his/her mate of choice
A2) without his/her mate of choice, because she/he/Liara died in the process
B) Shep saves the galaxy, dies (awesomely) in the process, with the surviving members of the team mourning him, and possibly, but only in the event of a male Shepard or a female in love with Liara, a possible offspring being told how awesome Shepard was.
C) Shepard fails to save the galaxy, dies in the process. Erm... I forgot, awesomely of course.
D) Shepard fails to save the galaxy, survives the process, of course eventually dies in misery when the Reapers end all life. Shepard could be stored as a construct for the next hero saviour of the galaxy, to find it and be told "Oh, I was THIS close to actually winning..."
Personally, I see A1 as kinda lame, but reasonably acceptable. After all that action this can only end with Shepard kissing the barrel of a gun and pulling the trigger, unable to find a life for him/herself in peace.
A2 I like, gives a depth of tragedy to the story, winning the galaxy but overall losing your life, which I see a fitting end to the hero who sacrifices all that's important for him/her for the greater good. If Shepard's love interest dies because of Shepard's decissions, or indeed because Shepard sent them to die, even better.
B I can't decide, could be very cool, going back to my previous lines about sacrificing all and that, or kinda lame. The part with the offspring is (I hope) a joke.
C is cool, but of course I guess it qualifies as losing the game, if indeed you can lose in an RPG, which of course I know you can't.
D... disregard

Seeing the loads of choises you make during the 3 games, it's very likely that one of the endings will result in Shepards death. I personaly wouldn't mind seeing him go down in a blaze of glory!

Anyway, vote and lets see if I'm the mad one here.
I don't think it would be hard to keep Shepard alive. They let you export your Shepard save, which gives us gender and appearance, and then it's cheap and easy to re-draw Shepard into whatever scene Bioware wants in the future. The worst part would be getting the two voice actors to record everything, but that's still pretty negligible compared to the kind of choice that Bioware tends to embrace.

Also: Shepard has already HAD a pretty epic death, dying to keep the team cripple alive. Leads me to believe that death wouldn't stop him/her. I vote for Shepard's status to be based on player response, like the party in ME2. :-D

Well I imagine there will be at least one ending where Shepard dies. But I'd rather not my Shepard die in the end. I'd rather he make it through and then retire somewhere nice and calm to live out the rest of his days.

Well...I know he can be a jerk but that's a bit harsh.
I always had the strange feeling that Joker will die at the end for some reason.

Well, getting Shepard killed was pretty hard to do in ME2, so I think you'll be able to get your ass kicked by the Reapers if you try hard enough, but I think surviving all the way through the end is the "main" option so to say. But i doubt you'll be walking out unharmed with your entire crew without a walkthrough.

Would be pretty ***** if someone on your crew would die because of a decision you made in ME2, like deleting the genophage data on Mordins mission for example.

As the title suggests, I want Shepard to die in the ending of Mass Effect 3. No, don't lynch me yet.
Think about in. Bioware have said that they're going to make more Mass Effect games besides from the Shepard trilogy. Obviously, they're going to put cameo's of old characters into the other ME games. However, because each Shepard is unique, you can't really let Shepard appear. So why not kill him off?
And it would make for a helluva ending.

Anyway, vote and lets see if I'm the mad one here.
while I think it is an option I hope its not the ONLY option..ESPECIALLY if you were a paragon..I dont want them to pull a fallout 3...just no (as in you get slapped in the face for being good)

I have a feeling mabye renegade might die in a blaze of glory...it seems fitting, also considering the choices made were a little negligent

shepard dies or not..Ill probably cry...(speaking of crying...I wouldnt mind seeing shepard do that)

I agree, but consider that new generation consoles are imminent. How do we import our Shepard to the Xbox 720?

It's true that having Shepard appear as a cameo in a different game set in the Mass Effect universe would almost certainly upset most people's perception of the character, but that in itself is no reason to forcibly kill Shepard off at the end of ME3. Killing him/her should still be an option or unforseen possibility, in my ever-so-humble opinion, but I think it would be a better idea to not directly include Shepard in any expanded universe games at all. Just mention him/her as the Specter who fought the Reapers, in the vaguest possible terms that encompass all of ME3's victory conditions, and otherwise keep him/her out of it.

I have never played any Mass Effects (please don't kill me) but surely, even if protagonist death doesn't occur, after finishing the story you could just step off a cliff, close the game and pretend Shepard, after a saving the universe and defeating countless enemies, was overcome by a small rock he tripped over.

I think depending on the choices that players make it will determine whether Shepard lives or dies. I can see a Paragon Shepard making the ultimate sacrifice to beat the Reapers. I can also see a Renegade Shepard having someone else make the ultimate sacrifice. I think Mass Effect 3 is supposed to have many different endings based upon what choices players have made so perhaps in some endings Shepard will die.

Its almost certain that there will be multiple endings for Shepard/the universe, and given that "heroic sacrifice" and "reapers kill everyone" are both very likely scenarios, I'd say yeah, its possible you'll get your wish.

However, it probably won't happen unless you deliberately don't do certain missions, like how in ME2, Shepard couldn't actually get the worst ending and die unless the player was really trying to kill him.

So, have fun experiencing half the content so you can kill your Shepard.

I'm going to refer to Shepard as 'he' for the duration of this discussion simply because my Shepard is a dude.

Shepard should die at the end of Mass Effect 3, simply because it's a convenient way to close off the series. Why aren't they making any more Shepard games? I want more Shepard! Well tough! He's dead! We killed him so dead you actually played his death scene. That's right. YOU killed him. You can't blame us for not making a new Shepard game when it was you that killed him.

Heartless monster.
