Poll: I want Shepard to die after ME3.

As the title suggests, I want Shepard to die in the ending of Mass Effect 3. No, don't lynch me yet.
Think about in. Bioware have said that they're going to make more Mass Effect games besides from the Shepard trilogy. Obviously, they're going to put cameo's of old characters into the other ME games. However, because each Shepard is unique, you can't really let Shepard appear. So why not kill him off?
And it would make for a helluva ending.

Anyway, vote and lets see if I'm the mad one here.

I wouldn't really want this, for one it's kind of cliched and for two, from what I hear Shepard already has a canon appearance and background from the books and comics (that being the default male, soldier, survivor) and even alignment (since the council appears in the comics taking place between me1 and 2 it can be assumed Shepard is a paragon, there are Cerberus news articles that confirm this with a tightening relationship between humans and the other, default council races. As opposed to the new council alluded to in Mass effect 2).

I would also like to point out that death wasn't that big of a deal last time round, if he died they could bring him back.
Finally I'm commander Shepard and this is my favourite thread on the escapist.

btw why should shepard not be able to appear in other ME games? i think right now we are pretty familiar with keeping our old saves from Bioware games. and if you don't have one just make it vanilla Shepard.

Well yes, right at the beginning. And the reapers win. Sorry, I'm a sucker for bad endings. Whabout the universe ends because Shepard lets his personal feelings (for blue aliens or those in environmental suits) get in the way.

Honestly, I'd like to see Shepard say a big "f*** this" to everyone at the end of the game. You know, once he beats the Reapers and the galaxy is saved, he decides that he's tired of everyone's crap, particularly the Council's. Then, he just jumps in the Normandy with his LI, flips the ole bird to and just disappears.

They can kill him, and if they make it an heroic sacrifice it would be a fitting way to end this trilogy... but given the previous games, the best way to handle it would be based on some decisions you made in the game.
There are several ways to handle whether character is alive in the next game. The easier would be never to show him and only reference him or his actions during conversations... After all, its a big universe, you know?

It´s almost impossible that in a deep Action RPG with so many choices and dilemas the option to kill Shepard isn´t at the hands of the player. Most Likely scenario in my opinion? Ultimate sacrifice or Renegade "you go instead", and probably with an option of a Paragorn/Renegade ending with no deads if the Player does everything right.

While it seems the most likely scenario, imagine the amount of nerd rage if some people played through the first two games and got the worst ending (unlikely I know, but still possible).

You think they might delete all the saves and backups so that they make the first ending the only one? That would be both impressive and highly frustrating, but its the only way to force people to see only one ending.

Hopefully people are aware that Shepard living or dying is probably going to be left entirely up to the player, like it was in ME2.

But seriously, I'd like to have death as a possibility. And surely it would be, if the possible endings in the last game are anything to go by. Bioware aren't afraid to kill Shepard off and screw over the save, though at least you can go back and change the ending...sorta.

I'm more worried about how ME3 will treat the romance options, as I kinda slept with Miranda, then Jack, and broke those off to be with Tali at the end. I also was with Ashley in ME1. So yeah...kinda worried

Why bother they can just bring him back to life because they suits they have are so good. He better die something brutal.

This. Only instead of "somewhere" I'd say the Quarrian homeworld if at all possible. Just because I want to see the damn place, and Tali without her suit. XD

After this lengthy spate of main protagonists eating it in the end, I'd prefer if it didn't happen, or was an optional path in the resolution of the trilogy. Honestly, I think the best resolution for Shepard at this point would be a bookend to ME1: "the Reapers are dead. Get out of my way, I still have a job to do" and Shepard walks off to a nice musical swell.

I think I get what your saying because Shep cant just fly off into the sunset really. It would make more sense if he died and they made like a huge memorial to him like something like in Halo 3.

Exactly what I meant. The ending of Halo wouldn't have been half as good if Chief had made it back to Earth.
