AHHH! EEEWWW! Sorry bro. I think thats sick. I can't imagine what the appeal of that is.

Anyway. If you really want to do it. I'd suggest having a long think.

I'm never wrong! haha!, lol, no seriously you make a valid point but tattoo's are a modular fashion item that you cannot remove.

My words were built on what I have been told by people with many tattoo's, a tattoo you get today is something you must come to terms with NOW that while it looks good and your happy with it TODAY you will not like it in 10 years time.

I agree with those sentiments.

Yes you can touch it up, yes you can try to make it look good, but the novelty will wear off and if you say that you can personilise a tattoo makes it good, no it doesn't it only makes it good if you in on the backstory.

You can tell a stranger the reason why you have a tattoo and they will go "oh wow, thats a cool story", but they wont go and tell anyone because its pointless in telling a story through someone else's tattoo.
You not liking the tattoo 10 years on is not a fact though... Many people I know are more than happy wih their tattoos 10 years after they had them done. You don't get tattoos for the 'novelty' either, anyone that IS doing that is an idiot, and deserves to regret it. I know for a fact i'm not getting mine for a novelty, and im not going to dislike them in 10 years because i'll choose things I know i'll like 10 years from now, no matter what happens.
Lastly, why would you want people to go around telling the story of YOUR tattoo? It's a personal thing, you don't go around saying 'Look at My tattoo! I got it because I had cancer!'... Sure, if someos asks 'Thats a cool tattoo, any meaning behind it?' You could go on to explain, but if you're getting tattoos to show off to other people.. again, thats the wrong reason to get one done.

I agree with George, you think it's cool now, but whe nyou get older, you will hate yourself, and people will mock you terribly.
Agreed. If you ever try going for a corporate job, it may be hard. I know a lot of people have to cover their tattoos, so not sure what you will do for your tongue.

It's just...strange, not bad or good, just strange I've never seen that before. But quite frankly that dude in the video was doing some freaky things with his tongue. By all means, do it, the only problem I can see is that you'd have some trouble talking while your getting used to the feel of it.

Tattoos you can at least get removed.
Though I agree with your general premise, the surgery to "split" a tongue is also reversable. According to, well... Everyone who's had it done, seen it done, done it to someone, or thought of it, though...

It's apparently more painful than the initial process.

Don't do that, really.. It makes the possibility for (one of the halves of) your tongue to come off kinda big, plus it looks very weird so you probably will be a lot less accepted. Not to mention the fact that it's just pointless and IRREVERSABLE..

I would pick an "You can do whatever you want with your body" option if there was one.

It looks like you've done your research and thought about this a lot. And if you still want to do this after having seen both video's, then by all means go for it, and post the result here!

I'll do that. :)
Assuming I don't chicken out of doing it. XD

It seems like a really pointless thing to do but hey, it's your tongue. Do what you will with it. Though you really should take a long time to think about it. Can you live with it? This is something that if you get done can never be undone. Though I'm sure you're aware of that.

It looks kind of cool in an odd demonic kind of way and you do seem fairly set on getting it done. This is by far the oddest piercing type thing I've seen in a long time but I can't help but think you'll regret it in some years time. Then again, it's your body and you can do whatever you want to it and if I were in your position I wouldn't change my mind based on what some random internet person said on a forum. Unless maybe they'd had it done and had had loads of problems because of it. Do they use anaethstetic?

is it really that bad with the tattoo business? would one on the chest or upper arms really have that much of an effect in a job interview?

I've got my lip pierced so I can't really comment on this but I will none the less. I wouldn't get it done simply because of how permanent it is. It will never heal unlike most piercings!!
At least I can take mine out if I tire of it but that is with you for life.

At least you included the appropriate "You're an idiot" response in the poll. I appreciate that. You're still an idiot, though.

Don't do it.

While i'm not against tattoo's, piearcings and stuff like the split tounge i must say this.

If you're asking on a forum, and a gaming forum for crying out loud (as opposed to a body art forum that is) you're really not ready to get stuff like that done.

Depends on how you get it done. I would get it done by a medical practicioner, so they would numb the tongue before using a laser to do the work. If you go to a tattoo parlor, they might offer something to kill the pain. At which point it's up to you. Some extreme body mod people see something spiritual about pain, so this is an option they actually weigh. Me? Numb that baby! xD

What is this I don't even

I mean, what is this?

What is the benefit? Pain, speech impediments, social repercussions, and all that? Not worth it.

This just feels like one of those things your going to regret, alot, when your older. Especially if you want a good job.
