Here's what I play, suits my style far more than any of the shred-machines in this thread.

How does it sound? I've heard some good things about Epiphone... I always kinda viewed them as like Squier or something, cheap copies which sound lifeless.

It'd take a lot of playing one to turn me away from PRS.

No; it doesn't look that attractive to me, and I don't play the guitar. I would much rather buy a
Also, I don't consider $1,299 very expensive. This might be because where I live everything is expensive (Half a litre of beer can approach a price tag of $10)

So this thread actually has some useful information in it. Primarily that Ibanez seems to be great for shredders. So, what would be a guitar that's good for people who can play both like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' arch nemesis but can also play more melodically?

I've got a Fender that came in a "So you want to learn how to play guitar, do ya?" starter pack, and it's basically a piece. All the strings start to lose their tuning on the upper frets, and the G string is wonky as hell (which gives it a really unique sound, but can make it difficult to actually mesh with other players, at least well). Plus acoustic guitars, but it's difficult to get distortion from those... hah.

Epiphone make all sorts of guitarts. The cheaper Epiphones are similar to the Squiers in the sense that they're budget instruments, squarely aimed at learners. The better Epiphones are pro-quality instruments, have a sound comparable to a Gibson and in many cases a pricetag to match. That one there cost me $1100 and there's no Gibson exact equivalent to it, it's called a Wildkat if you want to look it up. It sounds great and can do everything except saturated distortion (the hollow design means it howls very untunefully when hooked up to high-gain amplification). Definitely not for the metalheads, but a good choice for rockabilly players who find the price of the Gibson and Gretsch hollowbodies a bit too much to swallow.

My friend plays an ibanez bass and really likes it, but that seems pretty expensive. I would say to look into other guitars, but my knowledge is limited.
I have the bliss of playing my dream instrument. A Highway One Fender Jazz Bass. Jazz basses are great, but when you put a badass II bridge on one it becomes a dream.

I've already got an ICx120 Iceman that I've completely customized. Love that thing. Replacing the bridge I think is the only other thing I might do.

Far as dream guitars? I've got a bunch. lol

Ooh, pretty! I would LOVE a hollow body, they sound amazing... I can simulate the tone to a degree through my Iceman, but it's just not the same...

Mahogany body with maple-wood wings, the neck is a maple-walnut-wood mix, with a rosewood finger-board. It's also neck-thru, so there's that. It was originally $1,119.00, but it was put on a sale list and is now only $799.00. It's just a damn beautiful bass...
I would get this over the ibanez any day, thast if i played bass. but if their basses are anything like their guitars, Schecter is the way to go.

$1,299 is that expensive in terms of guitars, its definitely higher end (not top end tho), but if you wanted to you can easily spend 5-6 grand on a guitar, some cases up to 10 grand, and if you want a nice(like a really nice) acoustic you start at about 4-5 grand.

In my opinion, this is the only guitar that will ever matter. If I owned it, I wouldn't play it. I'd frame it in a case above my bed so that every morning when I woke up I got to see it's beauty, if possible, I'd have a copy made and put it at the foot of my bed so I'd have a good day twice. I'm not a guitarist, I'm a bassist/ocarina player if you're curious./
You win everything, ever.

Where can I buy?

If you think that's pretty you should see the shots of my girlfriend holding it when she took it with her for a modelling shoot (not going to post them here though).

i would play it before i bought it (same with any guitar) but it looks pretty good. I've got an RG model ibanez which is very good. It comes with an Edge III Tremolo which is pretty tight, I'm not sure how that compares to edge zero but i imagine they're pretty similar. my dream guitar's probably a steve vai JEM with LEDs because they look awesome, and i love ibanez guitars.

Personally I wouldn't, but it depends on your playing style. Do you think you'll actually need a tremolo? I rarely use them, even when playing a guitar that has them. They're not really that useful, imo. Have you thought of the downsides?

I think you could get something better value for money. But then, it depends on your playing style.

I wouldn't bother with 7 strings though. Yes, it might make hitting the high notes easier, but that's just encouraging complacency. Learning to play the same stuff on a six-string will make you a better guitarist.

I have a Warwick Corwette and it is a dream to play on nad a strong sound. link if you need [http://www.warwickbass.com/modules/produkte/produkt.php?katID=22016&cl=EN]

And I also play on a Fender Telecaster Bass from 1969 which have a lovely sound.

How does a 7 string make the high notes easier? The string it adds is a B below the E (BEADGBE)?

Hence why mostly only metal bands use them (most people don't have much use for notes you feel more than hear)

I'll admit, I don't know much about guitars
It's just that the last time I saw a fender jazz bass at a store, it cost 21 000 NOK($3200), and I imagined that would convert to more than 3200 dollars. The bass I have now, I got for $770, with an amplifier included in the price.

I picked maybe as I love Ibanez and would like a 7 string, however the design doesn't appeal to me. Looks a little too metal for my liking.
