So lets get this straight, it £3000 worth of PC, or a very good Mac. Versus a £200 pound console, that can only play games... Where is the contest?
So why has the PC not nailed 100% of the votes? It is because the contest here lies is in the one you prefer, or the one you think is best. Bigger is not always better. The level playing field means you can choose the entertainment sytstem you want, NOT the one you can afford. And THAT is where the competition lies. I think this because reading through this topic, I've seen a fair few people stick to what they had beforehand. This means that, in spite of a level playing field, a fair few of us would stick to our guns. I chose a PC because I'm most at home with one. In fact, I cannot recall a period in my life during which a computer was not readily accessible to me. I've grown up alongside computers. I am PC gamer, and had I used a 360, I would probably stick with a 360. I'd bet that of all those who voted PC, most of us would have grown up gaming on a computer. Think of all the console gamers who would, instead of choosing a better entertainment system, much rather have what they had before because they prefer their old system. Think of all the gamers who do not know about this site, or this topic to that matter. Chances are there will be more console users than PC users. This thread is not about the spec of the system, it is about PERSONAL PREFERENCE. It is, assuming a level playing field is present, the question of which would you rather have? A better system, or the system you prefer, the system you like best. The competition here is which would you rather have? For me, it's what I grew up using the most. For those who use a different system, it would be that system because they honestly prefer it over the other options here.

This is actually really hard for me. I would say PC because of how awesome PC is, but you couldn't play with your friends on your console. I think I would pick 360 because I suck really bad with a ps3 controller and I'm at least decent with a 360.
[small]Although, Microsoft are generally complete arses....[/small]

all the best parts as of 22/11/2009...

OK, let's have some fun?
A dozen or so of these:
EDIT: Bah*
and maybe some of these:
(actually, just raid NVidia's parts bin)

Run it on some epic screens, and half a dozen Logitec PC-compatible wheels.
Nice keyboard, mouse, and have it dual-boot 7 and some gaming/server abomination linux beast that can act as some sort of server.

Add those up, and with some time in the dev consoles and the game itself, and it should be able to play 4-player split-screen (well, each player would get their own 2 screens because a computer can support MANY screens) Crysis on max settings 200fps, oh, all while it's rendering Toy Story and Finding Nemo in real-time for a 5th person.

With ALL THE BEST PARTS for a PC, nothing stands a hope in hell of coming close.

It would also be the easiest thing to develop for, as long as the engine is somewhat compatible, because you wouldn't even have to worry about LOD's. Just run everything at full detail all the time.

Memory Bus: 384-bit
Memory bandwidth( GB/sec.) 67.2 GB/s

who needs optimization when you have that much power?

I'll leave the assumed spec of the PC to you guys. And Reuq, if facts and figures ruled everything, then the battle of Britain would not have been won. It was less than 2,000 British aircraft against over 4,000 German aircraft. As I said beforehand, bigger is not always best. I'd be posting this in shoddy English, or perhaps even German if that were the case.

Easily the PC. Even if you don't like the keyboard and mouse you can get USB controllers, such as the 360's, and use that instead

First of all, all games already are on all consoles (well most of them).
Secondly, PC would be too easy of a choice, and you wouldn't get the most enjoyment out of it. I'd rather have a console, like a 360 or PS3, and I choose the PS3 because I like the design and because I had the past two Sony consoles and have grown rather accustomed to them. Plus hey, free online.

I've always enjoyed playing games on consoles more than on my pc, because you can get all comfortable in your sofa, in front of the big-screen TV and just immerse yourself into the game. No other stuff to bother you, no alt-tabbing to MSN, no other things on your console other than your games. On the PC, the gaming feel is diminished because you use the PC for so many other things.

PC of course. More customization, better graphics, larger mod community by far, and as for controls, you can use the traditional keyboard and mouse or plug in a controller.
Better online, hard drive storage for all games which means quicker load times.

Obvious choice.

You can always connect your PC to a HDTV easily. Most current graphics cards support HDMI, and most HDTVs also have VGA ports. Sitting back on the sofa is easy enough with a wireless keyboard and mouse. For controls, if you prefer a console controller, the PS3 and 360 controllers both work on PC.

A PC, if it was free and top end then it's a no-brainer. Especially considering that I've already got a PS3 and a 360.
