Given that you can control a gamepad to a PC (there's both a wingman and a g25 in mine at the moment, I also have dualshock controllers for my PS3 and xbox 360 controllers that I could plug in if I so chose), a top end system today will most likey be over a higher techinical standard than the consoles of tomorrow (or if not, can be cheaply updated down the track so it is), has far more uses outside of gaming (word processing, internet surfing, skype type chat, facebook etc) and has by far the best multiplayer options (or rather, it is the only console where you actually have different options) it is the obvious choice.

The only reason I can see anyone choosing anything else is because they are uninformed.

I disagree (actually, you're flat out wrong, the PC wins easily), despite sharing the best screen (with my PC) the xbox 360 seems to have slightly better visuals than the playstation (despite being on an inferior screen), and neither can even pretend to compete with the PC. Some PS3 exclusives, actually, only GT5 of what I've played, are prettier than anything I've seen on the xbox (though are still a fair way off top end PC graphics), but I mean with cross platform games. Sometimes cross platform games don't even support 1080p for the ps3, for some reason (which is disapointing, where I'm from xbox live is a joke, and I'd rather not have to choose between higher res and playable multiplayer).

PC because it has the most control options, frankly I;d rather pay twice as much for the PC port than be forced to play a wankered down console game on the console....even when poorly ported it still has a dozen more options on the PC than a console who's sole is to get you to buy propriety peripherals for it... which would not be so bad if I could buy a 50$ for full control configuration and 50$ for a keyboard and 50$ for a mouse...... which of coarse would take time and money away form keeping people dumb and impregnated with stupid disposable media and hardware....ya I am bitter...so bite me........

Dur.

PC.

This scenario is a dream come true. All the top end components, and every game ever? Damn. Awesome. Even if I had to put it together myself.

I'd stick with my trusty X-Box 360. I never really got into the PC gaming, never liked the Playstation controls, and the Wii, I don't really use right now.

This is true the PS3 relies to much on hardware anti alsing and other hardware based things to make the lower grade textures look better, the PS3 is coming along but oy the hardware is tricky to get stuff on it right. I think maybe next year or 011 is when average graphics on the PS3 should start outpaceing the 360. The PS3 really needed more ramm well it would at least help with the bottle necking cased by early software no matter how much faster the PS3 is the software has limited it greatly tho again thats going away bit by bit.

The 360 has its own set of issues the HDMI was ramrodded in, the hardware itself was not really overhauled to deal with the heat issues but despite that its a solid platform(hardware issues revolving around heat, power, DVD drive and fickle chips aside).

I am trying to g1 et a 360 for Xmas, tho I;d rather have a WII the 360 is a fair choice the PS3....eh...maybe if a new version has hardware BWC in it...until then I will get a 60GB unit in a year or 2...

Simple fact about the poll results...

Everyone wants to play on the PC/MAC more because of the freedom, over all usability, and the Free update/download/mod community. BUT (and thats a big round full bodied but) none of them have the balls to stand up and say "NO, I won't buy that game because its a console exclusive, they will charge for downloadable content, updates, and online play, despite me being a long time fan of previous titles."

Well, I did. I didn't buy MW2 because they took away dedicated servers. Thats the only reason. And trust me I wanted that game bad. But I'm not putting up with P2P bullshit. I'll get the cracked version when the heat dies down.

Honestly i'm just use to 360 so i'd keep that, if i owned a PS3 i'd stick with that. PC gaming and me don't get along

As said, PC. A top of the line system will have better graphics than an Xbox or PS3, the games can be modded and I prefer keyboard and mouse controls. For those who don't like keyboard and mouse controls you can hook up almost any controller to a PC with the right components. The only downside is the monitor, however with most cards from the last 5 years you can hook them up to a TV.

If I had to choose a console it would be the 360. Most of the currently available multiplatform games end up having better graphics on the 360, and I prefer the controller. The dualshock just feels a little too light and flimsy. The only downside would be disc switching on huge games, but most of the games that would require it I don't really have a desire to play.

Sticking to my PS3's side. I feel most comfortable with a DualShock or SIXAXIS controller in hand.

this argument seems pointless since its way easier just to get a PC and then have it use the console controls if thats your thing

well well well... looks like somebody really wants to own an xbox 360. PS3 exclusive titles are not all that frequent. I would like to play valkyrie chronicles, but I guess that may never happen. The wii has an overwhelming number of lame titles. The wiimote is ultimately useless for most all non-nintendo games and pretty bad for some of those as well. Remember the Force Unleashed, the game that everyone said 'It has lightsabers, the wii version is gonna pwn all!!!11!!'. Yeah, worst version of a pretty lame game.

I think it would be sweet if more games followed mass effect and actually gave in game bonuses for achievements unlocked. I am kind of an achievement junkie. I just like seeing that pop up come out and the blip sound as I do something new. I admit I have bought certain games for both the PC and the xbox because I wanted to get achievements.

I'd still choose the 360. Sure, I'm throwing away my chance to get a shit-hot computer, but I just prefer playing games on the 360: I play wirelessly from my couch on my big TV, I can play couch co-op with my friends, and I like the controllers.

If I preferred the Dualshock 3 I'd say PS3, but I don't.

Assume here that, in a twist of fate, your old console breaks on you. On your trip to the store for a new system, you stumbe across an article confirmed by all credible gaming magazines (PC gamer, CVG, The Escapist, etc) that all games are to be realeased on all current-gen systems, and each customer is to be given a free entertainment system of their choice between a 360, Wii, PS3, a PC (for the PC, it is a top-end system with all the best parts as of 22/11/2009) or a top-end mac (yes, released on Mac as well). The services for the consoles will remain unchaged, but things like DLC are going to be on sale be on all systems. All the games will get the appropriate changes (motion sensitivity for Wii, sixaxis for PS3 etc). The question now is which system will you go for?
You should edit ur post to say that with the consoles you also get a TV etc. to match the price of the Computer, helps balance it out.

Still I'd have to say a PC, mainly because, my current system is a Mac with windows; so If it broke down I would have to get another one.

This thread would have been ten times better had you not included PC.

I voted PS3 because let's face it, it's the most powerful system, has a Blu-Ray player and can record television when Play-TV comes out. It's basically a kickass entertainment system and since every game comes out on it, there's no reason to own another console.

Everyone should vote PS3. It's hand down the best.

Your question has very little merit because the conditions given discard most of the distinctions between the devices. If all games are avilable, all gimicks are available, all additional content is available and they are all free, then for the purposes of the question, there is little upon which to base a conclusion.

That said, my choice would be a PC. I have ALWAYS prefered playing games on PC and, on the occasion that I do not, it is because the softare is not available or my social circle has chosen to play on a console.

Of course, if we look at the consoles themselves, the reasons for purchasing one platform over another have essentially disappeared. All we have left is basic controller design (where I prefer the 360), network (the 360 is the most robust and the least free, PSN is free but less robust than XBL, nintendo's network can be said to exist and is also free but I have thus far seen little value), and value added features (PS3 wins because of blue ray drive, 360 is next and Wii comes in a distant last since there isn't much it can do besides play games).

A Mac, all the way. Assuming I can use a 360 Controller on it. That way all the games are on my computer, I can use a controller for the games that work better with one, and I don't have to deal with the uninspired, unintuitive mess that is Windows. Win. :D

I should think she's probably due for an upgrade. Might get her Windows 7, a bunch of new RAM and a new graphics card for Christmas. Maybe a new external hard drive for extra anime storage as well? Who knows. Depends how well she treats me.
Did you name your computer too? I certainly did.

The computer would be the only logical choice. Well as you laid out the terms of course.
