Poll: If the XBone didn't have any form of DRM...would you buy one?

If they cut out the DRM and made it so I could have the kinect disconnected when I wasn't using it, I would certainly buy one. I'm primarily part of the PC gaming master race and still don't own a PS3, so having a new Xbox come out was really exciting for me. Unfortunately, I refuse to buy products that are designed in such a way as they hinder instead of help me.

Maybe. I don't plan on getting into the next generation at all, but if the Xbone dropped that once-a-day check in DRM bullshit then I'd at least consider it as an option. I just like to have the option to play my copy of a game whenever I want. Sure, the Xbone might give the publishers and developers more options, but speaking as a consumer I want some options too. One of those is an offline ability whenever I want.

Of course, the price would have to drop as well. No way I'm shelling out an extra $100 for something that seems on the same scale as its competitors. If you want to make the Kinect mandatory then fair enough, but I certainly don't want it and I'm not going to pay for something I don't want. As for te extra televesion features, I don't even particularly like television, and I already have netflix so I can watch some cool movies and shows anyway.

And if you're worried about the Kinect, it's just a camera. Stick a piece of tape over it or something.

Lots of interesting responses here. One thing that is rather surprising is the large backlash towards the kinnect (understandably so, why should somebody have to pay extra for an addon they don't want that is impossible to even remove from the console). As for me, my opinion still stands, the biggest issue I have with the Xbone is the DRM. It's not that my internet can't handle the once-a-day connection, it's the fact that the servers are going to be unreliable. Take that concern away, and I find myself looking forward to exclusives such as Dead Rising 3 (yes, even with the grit), a new Halo, and a couple other interesting new IPs. As for the kinnect, I am probably one of the very few people looking forward to what it can do, I actually enjoyed the kinnect on the 360, and the new kinnect seems to be able to do alot more. But those are just my two cents.

No, it won't be a new thread lol. That would be rather arbitrary wouldn't it? I may as well say "Would you buy an Xbone if it had a ton of exclusives and no restrictions to anything whatsoever?" Of course most people would probably say yes. Since DRM is the most major complaint against the Xbone, I was curious to see if people would still buy it without it.

It would still have the kinect on it. Not that i fear that the evil shadow government is watching me; i think they'll find ways to integrate the kinect in stupid ways. A command that could've been mapped on the controller but it isn't because they just have to get some gimmicky bullshit in there. I imagine shooters where you have to throw grenades with a throw motion. Would be neat the first few times, will get old before you beat the game.

Also: Red ring of death. Xbox360 the first one was built so astoundingly bad that i would wait and see if they managed to make a console that doesn't explode this time. Because apparently that isn't a given.

And the used games thingy bugs me. This might not turn out to be *as* bad as i fear, maybe no one actually charges it or if they do it'll 10 cents or something and most of that goes to the developers or something.
Still this is a hassle that i simply don't have to deal with elsewhere, which is the same reason i'd bring up for DRM.
My internet is reliable for now and it will stay that way in the foreseeable future but microsoft has given me little reason as to why i should even bother.

Prior to Microsoft's reveal, I had two parameters: The new console needs to have no internet connectivity requirement, and it needs to be backwards-compatible. Even disregarding the DRM, the Xbox One renders the games library I've built over the past decade useless, so I wouldn't be getting one even if its replacement library wasn't so dull.

Maybe. That would depend on the games shown. Out of all the exclusives I've seen this E3, I can't say any would make the console a must buy for me.

If you have two platforms of the same quality, very much like in the current generation, you pick the one that has games which appeal to you more, personally. It's a very subjective thing. I never was a fan of Halo, and I don't like Crytec as a company (Ryse seems awfully generic and way too focused on visuals over gameplay to me). Forza is awesome, I played a bit of F4 on my friend's 360 and I loved the fuck out of it. I prefered it to GT5, actually, which I have on the PS3 as the next best thing. That new cell-shaded parkourish mutant-shooting thing looks pretty interesting too. That's about it.

So no, I'd probably be getting the PS4 anyway. I'm a massive fan of Infamous and the thing IS $100 cheaper. I'm probably going to get it after at least a year though, let it build up a decent library, maybe catch a nice bundle deal. And microsoft might come to their senses and release a less intrusive version for a cheaper price in the meantime.

I am mostly online all the time anyway so the DRM is not a huge issue for me, but it is not excusable. Also I hate the idea of having be log in once every day, what if my internet goes down? I am not getting rid of my 360 so I will still have my games. However the price is bloody ridiculous. Perhaps I will get it once the price goes down.

I would only buy an XBone if Freelancer 2 was one of the exclusives. If FL2 was on XBone, I would be willing to start a nuclear war to get one.

Yeah, I would totally buy an Xbox One if all the DRM suddenly disappeared. Really, it has some great potential I think, and quite a few of those Xbox One exclusives caught my eye, but then I remember all that DRM crap.
