I voted other.

Anybody whos profession is linked to the paranormal ('ghost hunters', 'mediums', 'fortune tellers', etc) deserves to be out of a job for spouting such horse shit.
Tell me about it, my mom watches Ghost Hunters.

Also, you posted this three times. I was like "Woah, three quotes from one post, aren't I popular?!"
Sorry everyone, I was doing other stuff and just hit the refresh button each time I came back to this window. I feel a bit of a moron because I only noticed it now. Apologies.

None of them, except maybe prostitutes and marketers, as they aren't doing a vital service for people (say what you want about tax collectors and politicians, without them there would be no services provided by the government, and having no government would lead to total anarchy, it would be like Somalia.

Jobs exist for a reason, you can't just go and expell one of them. Obviously the profession are lucrative thats why they exist in the first place

Politicians should stay. Just the ones who are good at it, though. They're truly our supporting members of society.
Prostitutes should stay. We can sell stuff, and we can have sex, so why not be able to sell sex? Makes sense to me.
Soldiers should go. War is obviously pointless, peace out. :D

Contrary to popular belief, I think that society isn't all around that bad, I mean it isn't perfect but then perfection is a fickle thing, and we could certainly be doing a lot worse. So with that said, I'm going to say that I would get rid of the person who comes up with overly long, "better" job names. For instance, if you are a janitor, you are NOT the "Primary Waste Consultant." If you are a bus driver you are NOT a "Mass Transportation Specialist."

I would say school HS counseling. I mean seriously... How do these people go to sleep at night cashing checks for doing absolutely nothing, and spending their days making kids miserable with basically uneducated assumptions.

But i would agree on the concept of Insurance as an industry. Its nothing more than a form of legalized gambling where you loose no matter what happens. You gain money for a claim, you loose with higher premiums, You dont use it, and your sure as hell not refunded your money, are you.

On prostitution... i say good luck getting rid of it, its not going to happen. Aside from the obvious reasons, So long as we live in a world where the ratio of men to women is roughly 1.05 somebody is getting left out in the cold, and that means someone else has to pick up the slack.

Spindoctors. They and all their propaganda-ministry ilk have severed and cauterised the trust between public and government.

If you could cause any profession, all of its effects, and all of its knowledge to blink out of existence, which one would it be? I would eliminate marketing because of all the money it caused me to waste. The first one is supposed to say "Soldiering." Sorry.

I would get rid of all the drug dealers, and if it was up to me it would be by 2 gunshots to the kneecaps and then 1 to the forehead

Politicians are bastards. It's not even a debate, it's been proven. Plus I hated all the Poly Sci majors at my college, pricks.
But would it be better left to Beurocrats or a dictatorship?

Quick run through.

Soldering. Never gonna happen. We have bodies.
Prostitution. See above. Usually resting on.
Politics. All politicians are crooks. Not really, but all politicians become crooks. It's the politics that does it.
Marketing. It tricks people out of hard-earned money. Bahahahah. Rubbish. If you're offered a deal that's too good to be true, then it is. Don't waste your money on get-rich ideas.
Law enforcement, free everyone from everything! Insane. Laws are needed just to make sure that lifes can be saved.
Taxcollectors, I am sentimentally attached to my money See - to pay for the Soldiers, Sexworkers, Salesmen and Police.

Very surprised there's not Lawyers in there, but I guess that would be too easy.

My answer is Marketing. Even though even that has a small place in this world.
If someone does something for a living, then it is probably needed. This excludes things like drug trafficking and shit, of course.

can you honestly say that someone who risked his life to liberate women from the rule of the taliban in afganistan is a bad person? or a person who faught to take a genocidal maniac (such as sadam hussein) out of power is also a bad person?

those might not be the reasons that soldiers get sent to war, but they are the reasons a lot of men and women are prepared to die.
but yer marketing, what a bunch of .....
Erm.... what? I've got nothing against soldiers. I'm actually in the process of joining the army, if that makes you feel any better. I was just enjoying the typo in the vote options.

It was a typo and now the forum won't let me change it. Wait I could change it just now for some reason. Wait, it went back to the typo again.
Hehehe, I know but it really tickled me when I read the options.

Arms dealers, maybe?
I know you mean well by this, but sadly arms dealing is what funds a certain leading scientific publication firm. Eliminating them overnight would have disasterous effects to university students, academia and professionals in almost all scientific fields, including medicine. Maybe with the exception of geology. Sigh, what a complex world it is.

Damn those people fusing small pieces of metal together with solder, if it weren't for them this world would be perfect!!!
