Think about it, the hanar have only six tentacles, and they would need at least four tentacles to stay balanced while standing.

Honestly, I hope that this is somewhere they're going with the Mass Effect games that are to take place after the original trilogy. Dragon Age style origin stories for different races would be a really cool window into the various species.
