I've noticed most opinion seems to hold that crying equates to weakness and only young children can get away with it.

So my question is really "Is it ever okay for an adult to cry?"

Obviously it's fine if someone has just died, or your sports team just lost the Grand Final... But apart from that, when is it ok?

On the other hand, if you subscribe to the "harden the **** up" school, then please explain why for that as well :)

Letting emotions out is a healthy thing to do. Crying is one way to do this. It's not usually best to let them out in public, but in private, a good cry every now and then feels very nice.

Well, if you cry in front of other people it generally shows 'weakness', but everyone needs to cry every now and again. I have a problem for myself right now because I constantly feel like I need to cry but I never can. Tears tend to just flow out at completely random times, like when I'm trying to sleep or when I'm just walking. It's quite annoying.

I can't cry. Even when I want to I just can't get it to come out. It's a really horrible feeling.

It's fine to do every once in a while when a big event happens like a relative dying or what not. But if you use crying to manipulate others then that gives you a punch in the face.

Well this didn't happen to me, it was...a friend. I...He was doing kickboxing trining and he got dropped on his ass and bruised his tailbone. After class and after he went home, A few tears made it feel all better. Mind you this was my friend...not me...a friend.

I cry only when it becomes too unbearable not to. Only times I have cried is the multiple times during childhood which I cannot recall, when my friend stabbed me in the back, when my dog died, and thats it.

Crying is fine always. Just be wary of your audience. You will question how ok it is when everyone is judging you for having emotion. Only when others comment on it when you do it does it seem wrong

I try to laugh about it, filling it all up with lies.
I try to laugh about it, hiding the tears in my eyes. because...

Sorry.

Cry if you need to, no matter where you are.
If you feel like you need to be ashamed of your emotions: There is something wrong with you.
Never apologize for how you feel, only apologize for how you act!

It depends upon the circumstances. I never do anymore, in any case, but that could be because nothing seriously traumatic has occured in my life for quite sometime.

It is okay for everyone to cry.Under all circumstances, and at all places.
And if anyone says that it isn't.Then they are just trying to be hyper masculine assholes.

i find crying is avoided by having horrific memory, as i do.
they say to live with no regrets, but it's harder than it sounds.

The annoying thing about crying is that it's expected of you to react to it.
People who are simply upset or sad do not call out for your attention, those that cry (on purpose or not) do.

I find it uncomfortable when adults cry because I feel like they're asking for attention like a child would do. But I understand that often it's not something we can control.

Crying in front of people is a big no. You should never show others even a hint of weakness D:

Crying alone... Well it depends on the circumstances, like the ones you listed :/ If something pretty bad has happened, then by all means go ahead, that's alright. But if it's over something silly like a "sad" movie then just suck it up man D:<
