Posted this in the thread about daughters:

No because WTF it doesn't do anything except make it "look better" and then there's the idiot doctors that screw it up.

Here's something deeply personal, when I was 5-12years old I had a life threatening illness and at the age of 8 my parents put me in charge of a decision, have my spleen removed to cure the illness or keep trying other stuff. Well I kept my spleen and eventually doctors figured out it was a virus and it would go away on it's own.

Now then at 12 they brought me in to a doctor to have me circumcised, on the idea that it would help with what was described as the walls in my bladder being hardened and that causing me to pee my pants. Obviously my parents were friggin morons and didn't realize that foreskin has nothing to do with the freaking bladder, not to mention that they caused the problem in the first place because we took long car trips without stopping the entire day for a piss.

And now I'm the proud owner of a disfigured dick because the doc did a half assed circumcision. So yeah thanks mom and dad for hiring a "specialist".

Yes. I got rid of mine for medical reasons and I wish my parents had done it when I was young rather than as a teenager (as I did... my that was not a fun summer). Also it's genetic so my son would probably need it done anyway. People who call it mutilation are just wrong. It's more like removing your appendix except a lot less invasive.
Yeah, it seems like whenever circumcision comes up in conversation (in real life), there's always someone with a relative who had to get it cut later in life and it was really painful. My dad's uncle had to get circumcised and my grandpa was uncircumcised and just didn't like it. I also had a coworker who said his older brother had to have it done as a teenager. Sometimes I wonder what it might be like to still have a foreskin, but then I think of all the minor penis problems that have come up and the thought of somehow having even more sensitive/damageable material in that spot gives me shivers.

All this talk of "God/nature's design is perfect and don't mess with it" is a bunch of baloney. Even then, I still don't think I'd have it done to my son if I had one. There's always risk in any surgery and a doctor could botch it. Also, shit costs money. There are also people on the internet that argue that circumcision NEVER has to be done and problems could be taken care of with antibiotics and topical steroids. It just seems like even the slightest suggestion that men might not be getting MAXIMUM SEXUAL PLEASURE!!!!! guys freak out and act like it's the end of the world.

No, no, no, no.

Male circumcision has no effect on the male's ability to reach orgasm. Female circumcision os the cutting or burning off of the clitoris, essentially making it impossible for female's to experience sexual pleasure or achieve orgasm if done properly.
I would argue that "circumsised" people get desensitized simply because the "Glans" (or however you call it) is exposed and rubs against your underwear/leg/watever when you are walking, and people who are "uncut" have the foreskin to protect themselves, I don´t really know how proportionate it is to the actuall "feel" both people have, but I do know that its a real concern for me, I didnt circumsised my son even though my ex wife wanted to.

also, after looking at some sites where they show how circumcision can go horribly wrong, i found my self pleased that my parents didnt partake on such an act, I would call it a barbaric act but as it was stated before, it is all a matter of where you grew up and how society around you sees it.

other than religious concerns, I can´t possibly begin to immagine what other cause could come to mutilating the penis of a newborn child, they talk about hygiene, but there are thoudsands of uncut people that live like that every day and I still have to see reports of a massive outbreak of fungus or simmilar thing on that population, so I dont really believe that is a real concern, and looks??, seriously?? you think you are going to get a girl horny enough to sleep with you and when she sees your penis she is going to yell and point "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING"!? hahahaha, call me amused (BTW, in sexual pleasure, having foreskin helps at making coitus more enjoyable for females, and it also helps when they are not lubricated enough because the foreskin stays in place while the glans is free to move around)
I hear this argument for circumision a lot... 'It was done to me so I'll get it done for him.' I try'd to explain to my sister and her boyfriend about it but my sister didn't really care and the boyfriend just looked at me like I was crazy. It drives me mad to see the baby screaming in pain just because his father wants a matching penis. I keep seeing people use this whenever these topics pop up too.

Yes. Not for religous purposes or anything, but rather because it's more hygenic.

Circumcision is medically practical, it reduces chance of STD's and makes everything look less weird.

Circumcision doesn't reduce STD's, condoms do.

Uncircumcised men have a greater lesser chance of catching a urinary tract infection if they're every forced to survive in a rain forest for a significant amount of time.

Circumcised men experience greater sexual pleasure.

Now if I had to make a guess at what my son was more likely to experience, sexual pleasure or survival in the rain forest, I'd go with sex.

it definitely doesn't hurt
It does, in fact. Your foreskin contains roughly a third of your penis's nerve endings. Imagine accidentally cutting your dick while shaving it. Ouch, right? Now try that times fourteen buhtrillion.

Also if you're really worried about your son catching an STD you better just get the butcher knife out and remove the penis entirely.

ie - If you son is old enough and wants to live a lifestyle where he's likely to catch an STD he can make up his own mind to get circumcised (or just use a condom).

The overwhelming majority of 1st World doctor societies completely disagree with it.

Take that on board before you start trying to argue it's medically necessary - or even has real benefits.
