I would leave it upto my son. I have actually given this topic some serious consideration (It's amazing what I think about when trying to avoid studying) and being circumcised is very rare in Scotland, at least I presume it is, but if they felt it was necessary then I wouldnt object to them doing it when they are older.

Oh no, I was just pointing out that female circumcision is even more egregious than male circumcision to clarify, but I disagree wholeheartedly with both. I would never ever circumcise my theoretical future son.

I think it's morally wrong to make irreversible decisions about someone else's body, unless lack of action could put their life in danger.

Circumcision doesn't even remotely come close to such a qualification, so it's completely unacceptable in my book.

I'm not saying the two are identical pieces of the body, or arguing for their necessity. Admitted, I do not know everything about the procedures performed on females. But the way I see it, both procedures involve mutilation of the genitalia. One is commonly accepted in society; the other is condemned. And I don't see why that is.

"Harmless" cosmetic mutilation is generally accepted...people like tatts, piercings, botox and boob jobs.

I think male circumscion would be better compared to labiaplasty, which tends to involve trimming a lady's bits because she feels abnormal for not looking like a porn star. That sort of thing is accepted, and probably shouldn't be.

Yes. I got rid of mine for medical reasons and I wish my parents had done it when I was young rather than as a teenager (as I did... my that was not a fun summer). Also it's genetic so my son would probably need it done anyway. People who call it mutilation are just wrong. It's more like removing your appendix except a lot less invasive.

I'm from the UK and personally I think this is a really weird question to ask as it never would have even occurred to me to do this.

Are the Amercian's amongst us aware that circumcision is far from normal outside of America (besides religious reasoning of course)? I don't know about the rest of the world but in England it doesn't really happen as far as I know and it certainly wouldn't occur to me to have it done to myself or a family member.

It might be the done thing in America (or at least parts of America) but to the best of my knowledge you guys are the odd ones out on this topic.

I'm going to adopt, so if the damage is already done, then oh well, but by no means would I ever mutilate anyone's genitals. I myself am circumcised, and I don't really feel a need to reconnect with what I lost near birth, but no way am I going to have anyone remove X thousand nerve endings, cause intense pain, and risk scars, infection, etc. on a little baby's dangly bits.

What they didn't tell me is I wouldn't enjoy sex as much as some random Goy out there. Honestly, I feel sort of betrayed...so no, I wouldn't do that to a potential child of mine.

Like most Australians born after a certain time, I am not circumcised, and I'm glad I'm not. There are a lot of very sensitive sexual nerve endings in the foreskin and I wouldn't want to be missing them.

The health benefits of being circumcised are pretty flimsy, and almost all the studies that support circumcision come from America, I know that in Australia where it's not routinely practiced studies have shown that it's got pretty negligible effects on a person's health. Circumcision's always been a cultural thing, whether it's based in religion, or to make it harder for boys to masturbate, or, like in some Asian countries where boys are routinely circumcised but at an age where they'll remember it, as a punishment from women for not having to experience the pain of childbirth. Hygiene is just a post hoc rationalisation for a barbaric ritual mutilation with no logical reason.

As for it looking better circumcised? Of course this is just a cultural thing, I know people who grew up in non-circumcising countries who think that circumcised penises look weird. But even if it did look better, too frigging bad. I don't say that women should cut off a part of their body to be more desirable, women shouldn't say the same thing to men.

Obviously if I had a son I wouldn't have him circumcised.

Also, I breached this topic some of the girls I've been with and they claim they would never sleep with an uncut guy. Bear in mind once again that this is in the US, and they've probably never seen a guy who wasn't circumcised.

Can I just establish how prevalent this is in the world? Is this just in the US, because I live in the UK, and I don't think 80% of the male friends I have are circumcised. Why does it seem so much more common in the US?

Heck no. Now if they choose to do things to themselves (i.e. piercings, tattoos, whatnot, etc.) I will voice my concern and give my opinion, but that's it.

On a side note, regarding the human population, I do believe we should take the Bob Barker approach for at least a generation.
