Poll: If you only buy one, which will it be....Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3?

Impossible to tell now since all we know is a single-player trailer from BF3 and nothing about MW3. Judging from the past though... Activision has been sending CoD downhill. And while Bad Company 2 was a serious downgrade to campaign I am somewhat interested to see how BF3 will approach the single player portion.

So going by what's currently known... BF3. But that's judging on the past. Maybe MW3 will find that near miracle balance that CoD4 was pretty close to. Maybe BF3's single player will be as short as Bad company 2's. A lot of things are still unknown.

Define correctly?

They're easy to destroy and don't turn you into an unstoppable death machine. They're also a lot more balanced in a game like Halo, since you can absorb quite a lot more damage than you can in Battlefield or Call of Duty. Vehicles just don't work well when they can kill you instantly.

That's the joy of Battlefield. Instead of balancing a game solely on a "what's fair to 1 player", they balance it on "what's fair to 1 team".

See, I don't like that. I want to feel like I can win a team game on my own if I'm playing well enough. That's simply not possible in Battlefield... but I do it all the time in Call of Duty. Team Deathmatch? Who needs teammates, watch me go 40-3.

Yep, as I said, it's not for everyone and I can totally get your preference and what it's based on, just wanted to point out that it's not imbalanced

I get that same scorejoy myself, but out of helping teammates with all sorts of stuff, tagging players, taking bases, taking down vehicles etc. I'm a co-op kinda guy though, I love helping others/working with them, even when I'm sniping I'm either keeping up with them or grabbing a position where I can cover important areas.

There should be a third option, like "Neither", for those who would rather spend money on a good game. Honestly, COD is generic, repetitive and completely unoriginal, and battlefield is only slightly better.

I intentionally left out the "neither" option as it was meant to field this question to FPS fans who would be buying at least one of the games, and if they had to choose one, which would it be. Whether people choose to bump my thread with their "neither because..." posts is no concern of mine. Thank you for the bump (and coincedentally the inadvertant rebump for responding to you).

Not really our fault now is that? what we do know is that battlefield 3 has a product and it looks good. Looks like a return to its roots (by which I mean NOT another bad company game). And we do know that MW3 its a Dr. Frankenstein of developers (Sledgehammer, Infinity Ward[whats left of it], and Raven Software)which has me highly skeptical about the future of the "King" franchise.

CoD has a decent track record. like its too big to fail. every cod game i have played has lots of players online. but bad company 2 multiplayer to me sucked abit. but battlefield 2 was awesome and 2142 was better. so maybe battlefield 3 will be awesome too. i think i prefer the battlefield style flag capture system, so that you spawn on a flag and enemies spawn on a different flag unlike with COD where you spawn next to enemoes half the time and 64 player maps.

i might not preorder either this time round and wait a week or 2 so i can read reviews.

Wow this is tough for me.

On One hand MW2 was a pretty piss poor sequel to what was one of the best FPS of this gen.
On the other hand DICE's last game, Medal of Honor, was much worse then MW2 (I can't believe I actually preordered that)

I think Battlefield 3 has a slightly greater chance of being purchased by me. Mainly because despite the abomination know as the Metal of Honor reboot, DICE has done some pretty good stuff, while over at Infinity Ward the best and brightest left it after the Activision lawsuit.

Well to be fair, DICE only did the MP and for the very brief time they had to throw something together it wasnt terrible. The feel of the game was great but as far as selection/leveling/etc it was piss poor. But that can be easy attributed to the fact that they were brought in by EA last minute and asked to throw together a quick multiplayer. You also have to understand that they werent going to create a game to rival their own, that would just be stupid.
