I'm starting my 9 month army training in October actually, where I will be adhering to pointless protocol for my every move, walking 10 miles up a mountain so I can fire 2 shots with a rifle and then walk down again, and getting systematically broken and degraded by a lot of loud people with pea sized brains. Yeah, mandatory service is awesome. I'll just shut off my dignity and my brain and try to make a couple of friends in there I guess.

As for war, if that happens while I'm in there I'd get the fuck out and disappear, not for fear of death (couldn't care less, I don't really have anything to lose), but there is nothing really worth defending about my country. It has offered whatever it had to offer 2500 years ago. Now it's just a sinking ship full of superficial hypocrites, men that are assholes and frauds and women that are whores, and governed by gangs of vampires that seek political power only to suck whatever drops of blood are left in the country's already decaying carcass and invest it in off-shore businesses and foreign banks so that their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren can eat with golden spoons for all eternity, no matter the cost. Dying to protect that would be a disgrace, I'd rather get hit by a bus. I'm 27 years old and I just hope I live long enough to see it all burn.
hehehe I thought that the last word said bum

I'm not American and I love noone apart from my sister who can certainly afford a plane ticket out in case of a war.

In this setting I would need the G.I. Bill money to pay for college anyway, so I'd just enlist in the Air Force and hopefully REMF it up for four years. I doubt I'd be pulled for ROMAD or pararescue, so odds are the closest I'd get to the bad, bad bush would be one of the backshops at Tan Son Nhut.

Pull a Big Wednesday on them...

I'm curious as to what that exactly entails...

OT: I'm not old enough to be drafted yet, but if I was, I would fake insanity.

It would be fun, actually, coming up with the best ways to convince people I'm crazy.

I'd laugh derisively in their faces and walk off. I'm overweight, have asthma, and sleep apnea... I'd get a free "you don't have to die horribly" card.

definitely would depend on the war. Vietnam = no fucking way. WWII = already to ship out right fucking now. Vietnam = go to canada. WWII = get on the ship before it leaves for europe/asia.

i think you understand. if its a just/necessary war i wouldnt mind being drafted.

This is never really a thought to me, mostly because I'm almost positive I'm 4F. I basically can't smell, I'm at the boarder of legal blindness, I have breathing issues (through my nose) because of 5 or so operation on my sinuses, and I've had Brain surgery.

Yeah, unless they really strapped for soldiers, they're not going to draft me in.

If I absolutely had to, though, I'd go... as long as I believed in the cause that was being fought for.

I would just check myself into an asylum for a day or so. Would you draft a possibly insane person? I think not.

If they tried it now, I would simply hand in whichever passport for the country that had drafted me and live as a citizen of the other country!

I would never let them drag me into the military. No congregation of old men has the right to demand someone's life of them. I would either run or break a leg.

Well I wouldn't need to do anything cause I'm not American Wee. But being conscripted in any case don't think there would be a choice, if I wasn't getting any benefits I'd be pissed off but still nothing one can do bout it

"I refuse to fight. I'm a conscientious objector."
"A what?"
"You know, a coward."

See you in Canada!
