I'd probably join, but I'd help by gathering information, and only fight when necessary. Everybody needs intel, and I know how to passively soak up information.

Really, it depends on what country is invading, what they are like (Socialist, capitalist, etc), and if it will really affect my life. If a capitalist country invaded and tried to force their system onto this country, then I'd probably resist. I like the little bit of socialism this country has, it has saved my life, so I owe it.
Oh, and it also depends who is in power in my country at the time of invasion. The invaders could be doing a favour.
Capitalism is an economic system, Britain is a capitalist country.

OT: If I thought it could get anywhere.

I have no particular love for my country, but the idea of a doomed resistance movement has a romantic appeal, so I think I'd join up. Resistance doesn't mean soldiering though, more likely it means carrying on with your everyday life whilst occasionally sabotaging something or passing information to outside forces.

Yes. First, my country would likely laugh it's rear end off at an invasion on the united states(may I introduce you to a magical thing called a "history book"), then teach you the same lesson we taught Britain, Mexico, Germany, Japan, Germany again, and Al Queida(eat it, Osama).
Britain didn't invade America, a British colony rebelled and became America.
Mexico didn't invade America, America invaded Mexico.
Germany didn't invade America, America declared war on Germany.
Japan invaded a couple of American colonies, they didn't invade America.
Again, Germany didn't invade America, America declared war on Germany.
al-Qaeda didn't invade America (seriously, the number of people who seem to think al-Qaeda is basically the real life version of Cobra), a group of people trained by al-Qaeda flew some planes into a building.

You might want to reread that history book.
Read a History book, Britain invade the US in the war of 1812, and we kicked their ass

I'm probably the one invading with my robot army.
What? I need space to build more robot factories to take over the rest of the world.

I meant more of the way in which it is used in some countries.
I must admit to being rather appalled with how the medical system is in the USA, thanks to capitalism. We have socialism over here, and it saved my life. If we had a medical system like that over here, I would doubtless be dead by now.

The US declared war on Britain in 1812 in an attempt to invade Canada, and 'you' didn't 'kick anyone's ass'. The ultimate outcome was a stalemate, and the US utterly failed to gain any territory or concessions, which was the original motive for declaring war. Also, lots of Americans died and Washington got burned to the ground.

What history book are you all reading, because I'm starting to think it was written by Dennis Madalone.

It would depend on which side would give the better quality of life or life at all. If they're just here to kill us all, join a resistance, if they're here to overthrow the government and I'd be rewarded by joining the invaders, I'd join the invaders.

I'm selfish but I'm a human being, I want to survive.

Certainly depends on whether I disagreed with the ideological goals of the invading force, and/or whether I agreed with the ideological goals of the resistance.

Nationalism alone sure won't do the trick.

I never said they declared war I just said they invaded. And the reason the US declared war was because Britain was impressing American sailors into the British navy as well as Interfering with our trade. And yes a stalemate between the most powerful country in the world and and a 30 year old country. Defiantly seems like a win for America

'Invasion' generally carries overtones of aggression. To say your country was 'invaded' generally means that it has been attacked, not that it attacked someone else, failed to make significant progress and then lost territory to the armies of the nation it attacked.

Go back one line.

If you want to see it like that, then fine. I won't argue.

And I certainly won't point out that the most powerful country on earth today has consistently failed to accomplish military objectives when faced with groups of armed civilians. What does the flag of Vietnam look like again?

I'm just saying, nationalist machismo generally doesn't hold up.
