This thread makes me sad. I mean, I'm American and yea while we may not have the best Government.. we have the best damn country in the world. I would actually like to see someone try to invade the U.S, I can garantee you that we'll defend our country while bombing the hell outta theirs. After all, why shoot missles into our own cities when our warships can launch thousands of missles into the cities of the invading country. I bet it'd come down to us wiping them out, or them wiping us out. Also we'll have so many Allies (I hope so at least). And though I may not live to see a Re-Free America (like we'd lose freedom just because a commie bastard invades us ha!) I would fight along side with my overly military minded friends (I am the least military minded of the group, but I own the most guns. Ironic no?) But I would fight untill my number was called.

Nah. I'd just join whoever was offering me the best deal.
So depending on your country, it's freedom or living all communist and subjagated, thats sad..

You need a 'maybe' option. You may think it's that black and white but it's really not. I would possibly join a resistance but it would depend on who was invading us and why. If it was some kind of fascist military takeover then YES! If it was a united European army forcing us to join up into some kind of United States of Europe then no, I would probably help them. Of course, I am simplifying the criteria for my participation but that's the gist of it. It really does depend on the who and the why.

EDIT: Just browsing some of the other posts and saw this gem of contradiction

4. Fast food, Wal-Mart, Disney, etc will be imported to their country.
5. Their culture will not change.
Importing Fast-food (e.g. McDonalds), Wal-Mart, Disney into a country post 'liberation' will have two major effects. Firstly, a huge change to the entire economic construction of that country (which is not necessarily a good thing) AND a complete cultural overhaul. How could you think that importing these aspects of western culture wouldn't change the receiving nations cultural identity? Look what happened to Europe during the Cold War. Russia and America had a proxy war over Europe to obtain cultural, and therefore ideological dominance. Just look at 'cocacolonisation' and the subsequent Americanisation of Western Europe. Prior to Second World War, European Culture was very different and American influence changed all of that. Whether it was for better or worse is an entirely different matter but to invade a country and import your culture onto it is no better than British-colonialism.

I would try my best not to fight, but I would definitely help out the resistance in any way I could. If push came to shove and I had to fight and die for my country, of course I would. America may be a giant mess of ignorance, hate, and media lies but even then, it's still a bastion of freedom. If that freedom is ever taken away, I will fight my heart out to get it back, in any way I can.

(Sorry for that awful run-on. I couldn't think of a way to reword, though)

Yeah, I'd join.
I can't think of any reason the invading forces could have for invading us, so fuck them.

No, but I might see if I could join up with the invading force, depending on who they were. Hell, I regularly ask Canadians to consider invading us (and by "us" I mean the USA), because we're too immature at this point to govern ourselves, and we could really use someone to kick our asses and make us do the right thing. So, if someone from a country that's got its shit a little more together wants to invade us, I am all for it. And, even if they're from a country that isn't really all to on top of things, yeah, I honestly just don't give enough of a shit to fight for us unless the invaders are genuinely evil.
Yeah, my opinion is pretty much this.

Thanks, Kaptain Rob!

I'm a soldier in the NZ Territorials so yeah, definitely. It's in the job description.

Of course who the fuck would ever invade New Zealand?

Yes. First, my country would likely laugh it's rear end off at an invasion on the united states(may I introduce you to a magical thing called a "history book"), then teach you the same lesson we taught Britain, Mexico, Germany, Japan, Germany again, and Al Queida(eat it, Osama).
Britain didn't invade America, a British colony rebelled and became America.
Mexico didn't invade America, America invaded Mexico.
Germany didn't invade America, America declared war on Germany.
Japan invaded a couple of American colonies, they didn't invade America.
Again, Germany didn't invade America, America declared war on Germany.
al-Qaeda didn't invade America (seriously, the number of people who seem to think al-Qaeda is basically the real life version of Cobra), a group of people trained by al-Qaeda flew some planes into a building.

You might want to reread that history book.
He meant that the U.S. had defeated all the people he listed, not that they invaded.

Considering I live in one of the reddest states in the U.S. i would. Guns, ammo, and provisions would flow like water.

I am all for the highest bidder or the one with the favourible ideology. Why is everybody thinking invaders have to be evil?
And in addition to that i wont be activly fighting for anyone. I am no brainless killer, but i would take a position in propaganda manipulating the dumb into letting themselves killed for our cause.

No.

Not out of hand, anyway.

It depends on who the invaders are and what they have to offer.

Britian doesn't have some nebulous collective identity in my opinion, it is not itself a person that ought to be protected. It's just the land I was born on. If the invaders were in *my* opinion going to make things better, I'd throw my lot in with them.

Provided of course, that they spoke English or planned to allow all of England to continue speaking English.

I would. Be the ultimate test for my amateur skills as a tactician.
Knowing me there would also be an unsuccessful attempt to seize power for myself afterward, but yes I would definitely join.

Depends, I would only consider an armed resistance if I was at odds with the invaders ideology and it refused to adapt it.

Lets face it; until China or Russia squares off against America no western nation is getting invaded, once world war 3 heats up all bets are off.
People seem to forget that alliances and pacts between countries are why this sort of thing doesn't happen anymore. Only the countries that don't have any allies get worked over presently. Hell, the west isn't even in a state V state war at the moment, its a war between ideology and over resources (excluding land).
