Really, the problem with Shinji being on this list is that he's out of context, because none of the super robot show heroes of which he is a deconstruction are present. Outside that context, he doesn't mean much.A random person said:Also, I'm one of the few people here who doesn't hate Shinji. Asuka should have been there, though. Anyone who's seen episode 22 would know why.
Because She willed it to be so. She is not at number 1 because that would be too easy and convenient.Aura Guardian said:19. Haruhi Suzumiya
Why is she on this list?

He was too busy taking a potato chip and eating it to care about that much about the list.Spektre41 said:Goku higher than Astro Boy? Really?
And where the hell is Light?
You know, I might be mistaken, but I got the impression that that was the entire reason she was selected. This really wasn't a "best characters in anime" list. If it were, Saber would take the top five spots by herself, with maybe Rin Tohsaka jumping into fourth and Spike Spiegel languishing in sixth.LackofCertainty said:Even so, you can't call Rei a "good character" because her entire design is that she has no character. Aww look, she's all bandaged up, and she doesn't care that she's being used as a weapon more or less. That's not a good character, that's a doll. (a doll that some people like to drool over, unfortunately)
Sure, they might've done a great job portraying her as a doll, but in doing so you're basically forfiting any best character competition. You can't win a best character competition if you make a girl who's thing is that she has no character.
