Poll: I'm a little worried about Mass Effect 3, anyone else?

I personally am not worried for one reason and one reason only.

It got delayed.

I think a major consensus from people on DA2 was that it was a rushed cash-in, and it might also be BioWare's worst RPG, which says a lot because DA2 was still pretty good. But now that it's been delayed, we know BioWare has learned a lesson and is taking it's time on ME3, hopefully meaning we won't see cookie cutter locations, like the ones of or DA2 or ME1 (Which had it, mostly in the side quests). It's still BioWare too, so we'll undoubtedly see wonderfully written dialogue, greatly sculpted characters, and so on.

Also Garrus is back and in your party, so no one should be worried.

The bit that has me worried is the report on this site that said that EA wanted to give the game "more mass market appeal". :-( After this game and TOR, I will find it hard to trust anything new from BioWare. Any IP that existed pre-buy out I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Bioware has never let me down, not once. I'm pretty much taking it on faith that Mass Effect will be a great game, because so far Bioware hasn't made a single game that wasn't at least great. I'll start worrying when they prove they are even capable of making an actual bad game.

(I hear Dragon Age 2 was a disappointment for some, but I still consider it a great game, just maybe not up to the standard of Bioware's other RPGs)

anything you get excited about has the potential to dissapoint. I do worry they will screw something up but no more than I do when I go to see movies im excited about. In the end, i suspect whatever they do come out with will be worth the 50 bucks I put in and is hopefully worth the hassle of working all the DLC they will undoubtedly release.

God, I'm so sick of this absurd speculation. We have almost no information so far, and getting riled up over a 2-minute long gameplay trailer is just ridiculous.

I got to see it at E3 this year. From what I saw and from what Casey Hudson was telling me, it looks no less linear than ME2. If you thought that game was non-linear enough, then you certainly won't be disappointed. The main plot has always been fairly scripted, but there will still be bundles of other optional crap to do around the galaxy at your leisure.

Yes, I'm worried, but that's only because I'm not sure if Jack will be a team in your squad that I can use on all missions. I would miss her a lot, if she wasn't
You'd miss Jack? I was almost happy to see her get her spine melted by an armour piercing laser.

Now I remember Mass Effect for allowing me to tour the galaxy and complete quests at my own pace, and occasionally party and get drunk on the occasional Krogan ale. It's just that it looks... linear.
P.S. If Other is selected please explain why
Linear? Have you been watching the same trailers as I have?

Okay, here's the plot of ME3 (This is technically guesswork, but I am skilled at pattern recognition when I see it).

Oh, and consider this a spoiler warning, even thought I might be wrong.

Shep's Trial.
Earth gets Attacked.
Shep escapes earth.

And then a hub-based set of missions. You need to go recruit allies. The council can't help because there's bad stuff on each of their homeworlds too. SO...

Mission: Recruit the Asari
Mission: Recruit the Salarians
Mission: Recruit the Turians
Mission: Recruit the Geth/Quarians
Mission: Recruit the Krogan (If you saved the virus cure)
Mission: Recruit the Rachnai (if they yet live)

You can also screw around on the Citadel, Illium, or fly about doing unrelated side quests.

And, once you've completed the three main plot missions (Asari, Salarains, and Turians) you can go save Earth. So make sure you take care of lots of side quests before you do the three plot branches.

This is just my guess, but the information released so far (that you'll be going to the Asari, Salarian, and Turian homeworlds) seems to indicate that this is how it's going to go down. So yeah.. looks awesome to me. ^^
Yeah I remember reading this somewhere.

The only thing I didn't like with her, was that my femshep couldn't romance her. Yeah, I'd miss her. I used her and Grunt together on almost all missions.

Now before we get into this: no, I'm not one of those guys who says,"Oh, Bioware, you were so good now look how far you've fallen," like some kind of disappointed parent, I still love those guys. It's just Mass Effect 3 . And even if ME 3 doesn't work, I'll still probably buy it just to finish the saga and I'm pretty sure they'll be back with an MMO(just 'cause the Reapers are dead doesn't mean that the galaxy is at peace)
I haven't seen much of the trailers and stuff, so I couldn't say. I tend to not bother with trailers and such, because it can make you over excited, or in this case sceptical.

However, the idea of a mass effect MMO is awesome and it needs to come out tomorrow. And on consoles, since I have no gaming PC.

Shepard is overpowered. The fact he cant be killed just becuase of the stor makes him overpowered. The enemies just become dumb in shpards presence.

BW writing isnt that great, they have made an anemy too strong and as a result tey have to make them stupid when its convenient for shepard. I fucking hate that. Bad writing, and boring tps gameplay I alreadylost interest in ME3.I jus keep an eye on threads waiting for people to defend th bad stuff. It entertains me "X isnt an rpg, ME2 is though".
Haha, it's hilarious that Shepard basically in-universe has plot armor. Like seriously, the Illusive Man's reasoning was basically "hi, Shep. It looks like you're the protagonist of a Bioware game and therefore always win against insurmountable odds. Go kill collectors. Kthxbai."

Although I really like Mass Effect despite (and partially because) of the silliness. Harbinger is a lot more entertaining as unintentional comic relief than as a credible threat, for instance.

And ME2 is totally an RPG of the bioware variety. Stats? Check. Abilities? Check. Equipment? Check. Dialogue trees? Check. If Jade Empire's an RPG, so are ME/ME2.

I am truly annoyed by people who are burying the franchise after watching around 10 minutes of gameplay. Take this omniblade for example: people are complaining how it somehow breaks laws of physics, when the game is filled with biotic power and the magical Element Zero. Oh right, they aren't magic, they are "technology of the future".

Similarly, like this thread, what you have seen so far is gameplay. Combat. They are not showing much of the missions yet, because then people would whine how BioWare had spoilers in their presentation. Honestly people, could you please stop complaining about every single detail you've seen in the miniscule cuts from the game, which is far from finished? Just because they have (judging from the small clips) improved combat, does not mean they have ignored the RPG elements altogether. Would you honestly rather cling to Mass Effect 2's rather clunky combat, which itself was a huge improvement over Mass Effect 1's? Combat is a huge part of the Mass Effect series, and I'm glad they are paying attention to it: the previous games' combat was their weakest link.

Other-

At this point I am totally hooked on the story. This means that my tolerance level for the gameplay, if bad, is extremely high.

Case in point, my wife, who is NOT a 3rd person shooter fan, LOVES Mass Effect and ME2 because the story carries it so well.

Now, do I want good gameplay, heck yes, but I feel that even if they take the gameplay in the wrong direction, the story will hold the game up.

That said, I don't think the gameplay will go too far in the wrong direction. They are using DLC to try out new gameplay concepts to see how fans react to certain gameplay types.

I predict it will be exactly like 2. A "summer blockbuster" in video game format. Well crafted, extremely polished, pretty to look at, and ultimately a shallow and forgettable gaming experience.

ME2 was the first bioware game that I didn't feel the need to replay because none of the decisions you made mattered. Even the ME1 decisions only affected background characters and a couple of throwaway dialog lines, they didn't change gameplay at all. Every single fight was exactly the same. Cover, use soldier time slow power, blow some people away, get behind cover until recharge. If all of the powers share the same cooldown why bother using any except for the best, most versatile one?

I've been saying it from the second it was announced that I was terrified of ME3. The development time is shorter, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of changes in the gameplay footage. While I understand the rule: "Don't fix what isn't broken." I still feel there will be too much of the same from the last Mass Effect. While that isn't necessarily bad, it will certainly be anticlimatic than thrilling.
