Not buying it because recent methods used by big publishers has made me question whether to ever buy a game again <.<

I'm not getting MK altogether, I don't like gimmicky mashfests that use gore as their gimmick while pretending they're deep.
This MK actually has quite a solid fighting system this time around. Good combos that are tricky to pull off, no infinites, and everyone looks useable. It's probably the deepest MK you'll play.

I completely agree if they were giving you exclusive content; but they are not. They are simply barring you from something that is on the disk.
Online game servers on are on the disc now? WOW! Technology sure has come a long way towards making small, efficient, portable servers. Haha, just kidding of course. Servers aren't on the disc and thus they aren't barring you from playing anything on the disc of MP is all they lock out.

Unless they're doing that "one player is host and gets an advantage because we didn't spring for servers" thing. Then they have no right to charge used people for online play. But if they have servers, then an online pass thing isn't barring access to on-disc content.

OKAY.
My thoughts exactly. All the publisher is going to see is "PEOPLE STILL BOUGHT OUR GAME USED! WHAT CAN WE DO NEXT TO TRY AND MAKE THEM BUY NEW!" That is what they do.
And if you eventually do want to play online, then you have to cave and get the online pass, and then they win.

seriously, mojang didn't deserve the march mayhem award....

buying used isn't enough to stick it to such a developer
A developer who made a popular game? What an asshat.

I agree with this idea- a company that would sacrifice our freedom for its security deserves neither, or something like that.

I'm not buying it at all, because MK is shit compared to other fighting series.
No kidding, I'm apparently showing my support by ignoring it entirely...

Mortal Combat can fuck right off, I'm going to play more Blazblue just to spite them.

Aw, that's really weak. The game only costs $15 and it's infinitely more worth it than any recent EA or Activision game, or almost any other dev/publisher for that matter.

Pirate a game like *Mass Effect or *Dragon Age instead!

*I don't condone doing this btw, but I won't complain if you do...

I'm definitely not getting this game, personally I think even though it's wrapped in a sweet candy shell, it's still a piece of shit.
just because they're "big, scary corporations"? no. they've made many great games that i've been lost in and continue to play for hours on end while losing track of time such as Prototype, Mass Effect, and Rock Band.

besides, everyone has a huge hard-on for Mojang now... but once THAT turns into a "faceless corporation" thanks to the very fanboys who praised it, the cycle will continue.

I would probably buy it used out of spite too. Whoever thought that was a good idea can go screw themselves.

I have this great idea. We'll lock down the multiplayer mode so that people won't want to get the game at all! PROFIT!

I wanted some kind of option between 'Yes, You must be an idiot, if they don't sell enough, they wont make another MK.' and 'Why bother, it's not like it's going to stop them from doing crap like this in the future.' Something more like 'Why punish the developers for a pointless cause?'.

Im by no means a programmer or computer developer, so im not entirely sure how multiplayer works. However, when I say something that is on the disk I assume the actual game and game part of the multiplayer is on the disc and that servers are only meant to connect people with one another. If I am wrong then I blame my liberal arts degree. But I do think you raise an interesting point about whether or not there will be dedicated servers.

Well I'm buying it new, because it won't make a difference? Oh, and my shiny pass will be included.

I think the game looks great, so I want to reward those who made it by seeing them recieve their monies.

Not because they are "Big n scary" but because they have proven time and again that they are just money grubbing douchenozzles. These are the "people" (we all know suits like this aren't real humans) who need to be taken advantage of if anyone.

Of course, you mileage may vary...

Why shouldn't developers and publishers earn money from the games they've made for you to buy?

The additional $10 will still likely leave you paying less than you would new anyway. Get over it.

I think its simple economics: Is the game without multiplayer worth the price? Then buy it. Is the multiplayer worth 10 bucks? Get it. Is it not worth the price? Skip it. No need for spite. And honestly, what else can we expect with the existence of used games? That money doesn't go to the developer. Developers need and want money. They are going to find some way to get money. And the way consumtion works, if a used game costs an additional 10 dollars for multiplayer, the price of that used game is going to drop by about 10 dollars. The developer gets compensated, you get a slightly cheaper game, and the place selling the game gets paid. It all works out. And in the long run, developers getting paid for their work on nearly every game, used or not, will prevent the need to raise the price on new games to make up for the loss.

I actually need to finish CS, getting every ending for every character is very time consuming...

I think need to get the true ending...I never finished story mode in CS. Not that it matters.

Blazblue may have a better story than most fighting games, but it's still quite shit.

I just unlocked the joke endings...

Know what's fun? Going into Gamestop with 6 games, getting $10 in credit, and watching them put those games back on the shelf for $60 each.

The used game industry is a scaaaaaam.

I've never had an issue with companies offering an incentive to buy new, but what they are doing isn't offering an incentive. They're not allowing you to play the game as it was meant.

First day DLC, codes for extra maps, etc. are all fine and good in my book...they leave it up to the consumer as to whether or not that stuff is worth it to them. If it is, buy new. If not, whatever.

Mortal Kombat, at it's core, is a multiplayer game. Releasing a game and NOT ALLOWING PEOPLE ACCESS TO THE MULTIPLAYER is a dick move. Offering multiplayer for people who buy new is not an incentive, it's an imperative. Essentially, they made sure that if you purchased a copy any way other than brand fucking new, you were only purchasing half of a game. They would have been better off by offering the incentive of a code for a couple extra characters, different fatalities, a costume pack, something like that. You know, CONTENT? Multiplayer is not "extra content", multiplayer is the heart of the game itself.

I love Mortal Kombat, and have fond memories of going to the arcade with friends to play the very first MK on the arcade machine. That said, I can't wait to see the sales of this game tank.
