Immortality. I could make my life good if I knew I would never die. No stress. Just being able to observe the progress of life would keep me happy.

Is there some sort of underlying guarantee of misery or mediocrity after that year? Immortality seems like something that would make me super miserable, so I'm considering the year of perfect happiness.

I choose neither. Living forever would be an unpleasant experience as mortality is what drives us to do things. If we never had that maybe we won't be around in the back of our head, we'd all end up just sitting on our couch eating chips.
A year of perfect happiness would be a hollow lie. If it's already pre-determined to go my way, there's no satisfaction in anything.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That's hilarious! Everyone knows there's no such thing as happiness!

Immortality.
There is such a thing as happiness, it's called Bacon. Which is why I chose the 3rd option.

Even though immortality is something I would love, I have to pick that 1 year.. I don't know if I could stand an eternity without that person... Then again, I'd rather wait 2 years before I get that 1 year, so I can finish school and such before, so that won't eat away time from my 1 year of happiness :D

One year, definitly, granted I can choose when this applies. Immortality would truly become a living hell after a relatively short amount of time.

If I could choose to kill myself while Immortal, however...
I am in agreement. Eternal life is a blessing that can easily turn into a curse. Eternal existence as a drooling maniac who has seen to much? I would rather enjoy bliss for a year.

I dislike it when there is a pointless 3rd choice on the poll., but nevermind.

Easy choice: BACON! <3
Meh. I don't like bacon.

- On topic: Immortality would be nice, but when the world ends what would you do?
Find another world, im sure there are other civilizations out there somewhere.
Find a minor or developing civilization and teach them everything you know so you can start the cycle again.
Don't forget to tell them that you're their god.

Conditional immortality: that is, so I could choose to die if I so wished, to avoid an eternity of suffering. Otherwise, the year of happiness, as a failsafe, since I wouldn't want to take the risk.

I do like bacon, though.

I would never want to live forever. I'd be bored forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever.

Both choices sound pretty shitty if you ask me. One year and then you die? Doesn't matter how good that year is, it just wouldn't measure up to the true mature kind of bliss that is the fruit of a life time.

And as much as the idea of immortality appeals to me, as much as I ache to see the world shift and change, history rolling out before my eyes, I am quite intimidated by the knowledge that the universe will one day become hostile to the human form. I don't feel like floating through space, forever gasping for a breath of air that will never come, forever stranded on the brink of death.

So, two stupid choices. If a genie came to me and offered me either, my answer would be to kick him in the balls.

Immortality.

I'd try to expand humanity across the universe, with myself at their head, sort of like the 40k Emperor. Since i was immortal, i could take crazy risks and come out alive. And i would avoid becoming too attached to people, so their deaths would not affect me at all.

The first choice. "Everything goes right," and it's up to my interpretation? I'm happy, AND I figure out how to avoid the dying thing at the end of the year. Do I win?

I stand corrected. Bacon-binges are my only reason for living.
