If I had to pick one to sign up for it'd be the Mobile Infantry, but I do love the Imps and Warhammer ever so much <3

Dunno how we're supposed to choose between the two since you narrowed down the Mobile Infantry side, but not the IG side. I mean...the book of Starship Troopers (aside from havin prolly the most bull I've seen) is basically equal to the fluff of Dawn of War. The games make the IG look kinda bad...but the mechanics of the game make them look not half bad either.

Either way I'd pick MI though. Your chances of survival are several thousand times greater than that of bein in the IG. Your trainin is actually better and you're less likely to get shot by your own commanders. Your equipment is far beyond anythin the IG has out there (and either beyond or equal to the Space Marine guys). Plus once your tour is up you can actually like...leave and do somethin else. As an Guardsman your tour isnt ever up until you get shot...or stabbed...or cleaved...or have your soul flayed and murderfied...or any of the other ten million terrible ways to die in the 40k universe.

Not really picking sides btw just thought the song was funny.

Imperial Guard. Because they're cooler and even though your life is probably worth less than the ammo you're carrying around, there's just a twisted form of honour, sacrifice and discipline there that I can't say no to.

MI for life! The real Mobile Infantry is nothing like it is in the movie. In the book they are true professionals who use incredibly devastating weaponry and powered suits with jetpacks, nothing like the fodder in the movie. Imperial Guard has strength in numbers sure, but Mobile Infantry has strength in tactics and technology. Hell, an MI is easily an even match with a Space Marine. They have nuclear rocket launchers for Christ's sake.

A little bigger than I think the book described, but way better than the movie.

I see your Shadowsword, and raise you the fish of furry.

Back on topic.

How are people voting for MI, the OP specified that it was the movie version. Compare the entire starship troopers movie, to the average IG army. Unless 40k has changed dramatically in the last few years, each guard army should still include several tanks, and occasionally a basilisk artillery piece. Lets see how long your redshirt MI can stand up to a barrage of HE artillery fire, and enough laser pointers aimed at them so that they all appear red.
I don't care how many MI they can throw in the field, the guard had untold billions at its disposal and will sacrifice as many of them as necessary to kill the enemy.

Starship Troopers is my favorite book and I haven't even played Warhammer. So, M.I. for life. They'll be there, on the bounce, swinging on the side of their own race.

There seems to be better gender...'equality' in the MI.

However, eventual annihilation is a given for both organisations, at least with the MI there's a little less chance of being shot by my own side.

There not fighting each other its about which one you would choose to join. Basically what I'm saying is your still going to be cannon fodder but you get to choose which cannon your facing.

You must be confused. The question isnt who would win but instead which would you join. Given that the average lifespan of a MI grunt is about a million times higher than that of the "safest" IG grunt, I'd say I'm more surprised anyone would ever willinly choose to join the Guard. Then again...do people in the Guard even have a choice in the first place?

Seems to be alot of love for Imperial Guard and I can't tell if it's an underdog thing or people identifying alot better with those cowardly piss ants.

Well if I wanted an effective army then Starship Troopers is my pick.
I raise you a baneblade.

/discussion,
I raise you a MI Power Armor Suit.

Jetpack + Tactical Nuclear Weaponry vs. what? some lascannons, a BFG and some machine guns?
And yet my baneblade is still standing. Jetpacks and small nukes all you got?

I prefer the Mobile Infantry, they have so much personality when compared to the Imperial Guard. That was my main problem with Warhammer 40K, none of the armies had personality, unless you play Ork, who don't fit my play style.

But yeah, Mobile Infantry.

We stand ready to serve.

Sure I would be nothing more than a faceless grunt but I like the endless legions of the Imperial Guard.

I'm going to side with the IG on this one but I'm going to get more specific. For most Guardsmen the choice is between the Commisar and the enemy and they would rather face the enemy.

Catachans on the other hand go through quite a large number of Commisars, especially ones that piss them off. So they kill their Commisars in "accidents", then go and take on the big bads of the 40k universe wearing just a wifebeater vest and a 2 foot long knife. Badassery made of win in my opinion.

Guard, I want a las-gun.
Just in case this hasn't been mentioned, the MI from the book are practically the basis for Space Marines.

Folks, I think its clear that the Guard would decimate the Mobile Infantry. In terms of weaponry, numbers, training, tenacity and emprah-ness.
Granted the MI where (as far as I can tell) the basis for most modern day space marines, they got nerfed something shocking and thus CHARGE FOR THE EMPRAH!

By the way, I would also join the guard, cause the then I might get close enough to see a REAL speehs mahreen.

Lol no. One of them got offed by a two-penny angelic thing with a sword. They can't take nukes.
