For me it's Battlefield, especially Battlefield 2. The features are great and make teamwork mandatory to succeed which is a huge plus for me.
It's tough, but I'd have to say Halo. I haven't had enough experience with Timesplitters, as I don't actually own it, and CoD only had a couple games that I like.
Resistance FOM was great fun for me, considering it was the first game I went online with. Can't really say about Resistance 2 though as I haven't got it.
For me, Halo. Largely because of the first title. I still enjoy the other titles greatly, but they all have a very different style and I don't like them as much.
I would be inclined to say Half-Life as my second choice, although I suspect I might choose Timesplitters if I had had more experience with it; I've only played Timesplitters 2, and I thought it was a phenomenal game with brilliant atmosphere, if somewhat clunky with a few control aspects (though overall reasonably smooth).

The Half Life series is by far my favourite out of this lot.
However if all you want is to run around blowing the crap out of stuff you can't beat UT2k4 ^_^ wasn't such a fan of the Unreal Tournament 3 though...

Resistance is also an amazing game, Resistance 2 is different but still great fun to play. I'd highly recommend it.Fallen-Angel Risen-Demon said:

If so it's Half Life by miles and miles and miles...
Counter Strike, DoD, Hidden, Gary's Mod, Minerva, Neo tokyo, Insurgency, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Synergy, Zombie Panic!, Stargate, Plan of Attack, the Ship.
The number and breadth of truly excellent pieces of content that have sprung out of Half Life is unrivalled. Half Life itself isn't too shabby either.
Against that Quake and Battlefield games come close, especially Quake and it's seemingly infinite modsphere.
Never mention Call of Duty as the greatest series ever, that's like saying Michael Bay should have an Oscar or two.

OT: While we're talking about mods, I say the Empires Mod for Half Life 2, a RTS/FPS hybrid. I wish more FPS games went RTS/FPS hybrid, it works a lot better than it sounds.
In more mainstream matters, TF2, COD4, Counter-Strike, Goldeneye and Half Life.
