I don`t think any movie should be tied at #1 (9.1) that was made this year. It should wait a yaer and see if people are still saying it is the best ever

I've seen that movie 3 times in theater.
While I think it deserves this, I think it will drop down on the list after hype goes down. It will probably find a comfortable spot in the list eventually.

Yeah, the movie was brilliant. But it doesn't deserve to be 3rd highest rated of all time. That's fucking ridiculous.

Most definitely not, the only people who think so a people who haven't watched many good films.

its been inflated by fanboy morons to the point at which it outstrips anything Kubrick made and anything almost anyone ever made. Its good, but get a grip people, it isn't better than Dr Strangelove and definitely isn't better than any of the original Star wars films.

Considering its 3 movies in one, and a return to high concept sci fi, i'd be cool with it top 10 .

You have the
inception movie/ending
malevolent movie/ending
straight up "happy" ending/movie

I love the ambiguity its awesome.

Good but not great. Shouldn't even be in the top 10. Although it has been one of the best recent films to come out in my humble opinion. Better than avatar which was just furry/nerd porn.

Highest rated movies of all time just boost new releases.

Who will remember Inception in 30 years?
I will, for one, but really, it's much too early to speculate on its future prospects. It only came out a few months ago and it's still a novelty. Wait a few years and then bring this subject up again.

But the thing we need to ask is "how does IMDB decide what to rate movies?" If it's just an opinion poll, then yes, Inception deserves it, because opinions are random and have no basis in the quality of a film. If it's an opinion poll, then Barny the Purple Dinosaur can deserve it if people like it, but it won't change the fact that the fucker is an insult to the intelligence of everyone who watches it.
Where was I going with this?

It was great to see a new idea on the big screen. Although it touched on Matrix stuff a bit and had perhaps a few too many gun fights.
I wouldnt rate it too high; i would imagine some people getting confused with that's going on.

It was definitely a good movie. I actually liked the fact that there was no "Big Bad," it allowed you to sympathize with all of the characters.

It could only have been better if Batman was that guys wife.

It was a good movie, but not the 3rd best movie. Confusing to say the least.

Now, I don't watch movies. I don't watch anything.
TV is for squares, man, I don't do that. I play vidja gaems, read books and write my own stuff.
When I hear about a good movie, I think "Lol, how much'd they pay you to write a review that positive?", or "Eh, I'll watch it on DVD".

Therefore is was so odd of me to- upon hearing about Inception -head off to the cinema as soon as possible.
Why? To be frank, I'm going to blame it on pas experiences. Every action film I've seen in the last three years has been mindless, cheap and stuffed full of overpaid "celebrities" trying to pretend they're half interested in what they're doing. For a while, I've thought that is the basic description of a modern film. Flashy, expensive and not worth the loud mouth prats at the back throwing popcorn in your hair.
Yet, Inception came along and managed to make me think otherwise. Maybe it's just because I don't eatch films, maybe it's because it was balls-out brilliant.

What is there to say that hasn't already been said? It was- is an amazing experience. The cinematography is amazing, the acting is some of the best I've seen all year and it was a good ol' fashioned romp through the subconcious. I suppose it did have one fault, and that was primarily my fault. I expected it to really fuck with my mind. It didn't. While an amazingly complex motion picture, I was expecting it to go into further detail.
I suppose those are naggling inconsistencies that aren't really inconsistent.
So yeah; Inception. One of the best films I've seen in my entire life.

Silly people taking IMDB ratings seriously. That's like taking YouTube views seriously. It's based on popularity, and it's the internet, so of course it isn't going to reflect reality. Not that appreciation of fiction ever approaches reality anyway.

I haven't seen it, but I can say it does deserve to be on the list. What I cannot say is in what position.

You know what the funny thing is?
Is that the theater that was showing inception was advertising the movie as "The 3rd Best Movie Of All Time" according to Imdb.
So, there are people who take Imdb seriously.

What's with all the 'The Matrix' love here?

The story was original, and the action was good, if very dated right now but the ACTING was goddam awful. Keanu Reeves for god's sake. Carrie Ann Moss? The only one pulling off a slighty convincing performance was Laurence Fishbourne. Suspension of disbelief through bad acting is a lot worse than the scifi aspect.

I liked it, but in retrospect it was completely unconvincing.

So you're complaining because the threat wasn't worldwide and the plot was about his wife? That makes no sense. His personal struggle with his wife's memory was the story. It was supposed to be that way, because the story was all about him overcoming his past. You don't complain that Casablanca didn't display the greater narrative of World War II, because it simply wasn't about that: it was about Rick and Ilsa, and their role in that particular event. And that's fine. This is the same thing. It wasn't about the job, it wasn't about the technology, it wasn't about a corporate scandal, it was about one man and his struggle with his past. That's not a weakness.

Anyway, I think it deserves to be on there, for sure. But not at #3. Simply because Star Wars is below it. And nothing is above Star Wars. Nothing.
