As for the poll, I chose the 'Lesbian - don't like' option. Just men going at it is just really boring and I just can't take it seriously. It's very hard for me to imagine why a woman would want to do anything sexual with a man, let alone why another dude would want that.

During my puberty I was able to watch porn but only with the sound turned off, the 'moans' are just way too horrible and the 'dirty talk' is more likely to either make me either cry or laugh.
A large part of that was actually seeing the physical act of sex for the first time. But it gets old really fast. Currently I can't really 'get off' on porn. It's just way too fake.
If I do want to 'get off' on my own I'm stuck with a very small amount of literature which doesn't portray men as slightly dominant (only when the female agrees), completely supportive beefcakes whose singular goal in life is the unconditional love of the female protagonist.
Love and even lust are complex things. Submissive sluts and supportive beefcakes are the easy way out and seem to be 'good enough' as far as fantasies go for most people. But it's a bit silly to expect genuine emotion in pornography. Be it hardcore porn, dirty chick-lit etc.

Typically a female will either be built as a Mary-Sue so that the female author can push herself into the story and get every hot guy drooling over her. Which is painful to read. If a male writes it, the female is weak and stereotypically needs a man to save her. It's infuriating. Female/female ends up being such a purely sexual thing that it makes me physically ill.
And if you wanna talk pornography, the only genre that isn't bizarrely hyper-sexualized while being nigh-comical is male/male hentai. Which is a strange thing to notice when watching porn, I s'pose, but it always struck me that the females in porn of all types could literally be replaced with a hole and a squeak toy and still have the same effect, whereas the male/male hentai tends to lean towards at least some form of character development that doesn't abruptly end when the sex rolls around.

I would disagree on the subconscious aspect of it. Mostly it's just asthetics, and also to see the passion that they exhibit for each other can also be exciting.
